Hi, just a question to throw out there...

Has anybody purchased the soft bags that fit on top of the aluminium pannier boxes?

I think Wunderlich & Touratech sell them.

Any reviews or alternative suggestions welcome

I have Leegs from the Adventure Bike Shop last year. Couldnt have managed without them tbh on my trips away. The lady and I ensure we want for nothing when away so those and the tank bag and the handlebar bag were brimming oh and the engine bar bags Bendy didnt need.
It adds considerable weight to the bike naturally, but it doesnt notice it and neither do I, being a strapping lad bought up on Ovaltine Horlicks and a Pinta per person per day! Not to mention going to work on an egg...seriously many prefere light travel. I am 5 star hotel and take all the trimmings. So its up to you.

I havent purchased the soft bags but fully recommend the carry straps. You can get an awful lot of gear stuffed under them like jackets and trousers if it gets too warm, or bed rolls or a tent etc. They're also invaluable if you decide to spend the night in a hotel and want to carry them indoors. Highly recommended.

Thanks for your information guys.

Wilde - Had a look at the adventure bike shop and the bags look good, do they fix to the aluminium strap fixing points on the lid or fix around the box?

SteveM - I never thought about the straps, that might be a good option.

Cheers guys

LEEGS. Your not wrong. They quickly and simply velcro through the fixing points on the lid. They have a shoulder strap and carry handle. I have the straps Stevem shows as they came with the bike being 90 aniv model, but I went for the bags as they are waterproof providing you put its little plastic coat on. (I bought the cheaper ones) so whats inside? Tends to be the spare gloves visor tyre compressor bottles water neck tube and any bits that get stripped off as its gets warmer. You can stack on top of the bags if you so desire but my wife is petit and wouldnt see where we're going

Nice pics

How good do them GSA's look fully luggaged up :thumb2... Great pics

I have the Touratech ones on my BMW F800GS (not got a GSA LC yet)... and they're great. For alternatives check out the Givi XS310B Expandable cargo bag – Xstream Range from The Adventure Bike Shop. These look really nice. Price: £66.98 each, a lot cheaper than TT which are £136.63 each. Not seen the Givi's close up but I think they look better than the TT, I think they would be great if you had other Givi luggage on the bike too (Tank/Tail/Duffle bags).

I've also used 10L Kriegas and they're good too but obviously not as spacious or as convenient as these.

Thanks again everybody you are giving me lots of good ideas and links. All appreciated :beerjug:

Yes that's the bags. Cheaper but lesser quality naturally, but well up to the job.
Be aware that stiff sides on the bags may dig into the pillions legs making long trips painful. Ask me how I know.

I shall get the Givi bag to go on the top of the top box. These GS and GSA's are real pack horses, loads of luggage min fuss unaffected handling and plenty of performance.

I've used medium stuff sacks - the waterproof type with roll down top. They strap down nicely to the side cases.
But for taking the kitchen sink a monowheel trailer has to be a great option. 80% of its weight is taken on the trailer wheel at a low c of g. Unlike the average Goldwing outfit the whole plot leans and filters like a solo bike.
When parked the gear is safely locked away.

Agree, Ive used BMW straps for years,(Rok straps on the top box), they not only increase luggage capacity, but they provide armchair comfort (and safety) for your pillion and are a fabulous tool for carrying the boxes to your hotel room. The BMW straps fit perfectly with an inbuilt handle and are very extendable

Quite agree and excellent picture, I must spend most of my life yearning to ride on holiday again. Suspect most of us do, but work is required to pay for it!

When baby bike grows uo, he'll grow a pair of boxes and straps:

And look purposeful and Fugly :D
