Has anybody fitted the GSA panniers and frame to their GS and kept the original GS rear rack. I like the style of the GSA panniers over the Varios but was told by my dealer that I would have to fit the full GSA pannier and topbox frames as the GS rack won't fit once the GSA pannier frame is fitted.
I want to be able to use a vario topbox for day to day riding and then have the GSA panniers for touring.
Found these pics on the ADVRiders site to show what I mean.
My GS is an 04 if that makes any difference.

Absolute rubbish, you can't fit varios to a 1200 GS if you use the GSA rack but retaining the original GS rear rack is not a problem if fitting the GSA panniers.

Personally I prefer the GSA rack for it's strength and lower load area but if you want to go for the original rack it's not an issue. :aidan

maybe the dealer got confused or has no idea what they are talking about..... ? you cant fit side varios if you use the GSA rear rack/topbox as the rack mounts on the same points as the varios do...

but you can fit gsa side panniers and use the vario top box - i have seen it on a bike over here a few times. plus there is this

of course assuming the frame uses the same mounts/same style as original.
