I have ordered a triple black GSA due to be delivered early June.

I have held back on ordering the BMW luggage as I thought I would look around at what is available as £1200 for the three BMW boxes plus back rest is pretty steep imo.

In the past I have used Givi and Metal Mule. Both have been high quality and reliable. I have not used Givi metal boxes only plastic before but I assume the quality will be consistent. Metal Mule are excellent but very expensive.

So I have checked out Givi metal boxes and the price for their trekker range including back rest and top plate is iro £800. I would have to add in the cost of the pannier racks which I cant find at the moment, however I still think the total will come out at less than the BMW kit. So at the moment I am considering between these two brands. Does anyone out there have any experience of Givi on their GSAs or other brands that they would recommend?
Your views, opinions and advice would be much appreciated as always.
Thanks. :beerjug:

I've got black GIVI Trekker plastic boxes on mine. Its all brand new on the bike so I havent actually used it yet.

2 x 33 litre boxes
1 x 46 litre box
1 x 52 litre Top Box.

Let me know if you want pics.

Key point to note is they're not symetrical at the back. So I have 1 x 33 litre on one side and 1 x 46 litre on another. Looks odd but balances width each side aysemmetrically with 1 inch variation

They look very good especially in black. I am right in thinking that they don't fit straight onto the original BMW pannier rails?
This is referring to your Givi kit Evskij

Gordy,
If you have the frames on the bike for Ali panniers, I would have thought you must be able to get a full set for £5-600 now off here. Should be a few used sets around gathering dust by now.

Just remember the older 12GSA boxes won't fit the water cooled bikes.

Hope you enjoy the new bike

You can mix and match, of course.

I too, am a fan of the MetalMules, but I think I would be putting my money on Holan boxes. Beautifully made and styled - not sure if available in black, but the silver finish looks good.

For top-box...... take your pick, but best advice would be to get one that will hold your helmet, and line it internally with felt material.

Have a look at the Bumot luggage it gets good reports, the adventure bike shop sell them which isn't a million mile away from you if you wanted to have a look at them prior to buying something. I believe the panniers fit on to the standard BMW mounts.

I have these, the defender range on my 05 GS and they are brilliant, can't fault them. I've binned it off road with these fitted and they take it. Power washed them and not a drop of water inside. Really solid mounting frame, good secure locks highly recommended

No, OEM rack off Givi Rack on. Much easier and quicker system to use. There are no need to undo a lock to remove from racks, the another to open the kit then another lock to remove the lid. All done from one key and one lock. Same applies to top box and it does take my Schuberth E1 helmet to. You do however need to buy adaptor plate for top box. But if you buy all of it from Adventure bike shop, I am sure they will treat you to a nice discount if you ask nicely. By the way, buy black as raw ally will tarnish very quickly. Black kit is powder coated/painted both in and outside.

I have had a set of Alloy Kappa Venture 37 Litre fitted to my XT1200ZE with the appropriate Givi fitment. I held onto boxes, like new, as I thought I would buy a GS and fit. There is a fitment for GS not sure about GSA. If you would like these £400 plus p&p.

Ev, I have a spare Givi back rest if you're interested. Just need adhesive to put it on.

Gordyman, I would go Givi personally but if you go to Adventure Bike Shop they have a bunch of them upstairs to see and touch out of the packaging. Two different Givis, SW Motech and Bumont. Call the double check first
