GSA Price Up

Thanks, so the most popular is going to be the LE version:

£15,350 plus
3 boxes: £1,000 or more, essential to pick up the water bottles from Sainsbury's or to travel around the world.
BMW Navigator V: £632, essential if you want to use all the tech gizmos, wheel control etc...

Almost £17,000 all-in.

Not bad....off to a dealer for a px quote :D

..........or to look at it another way £12,600 for a standard one with ABS, traction control, heated grips and 2 riding modes included as standard sound good value ;)

I must say I'm surprised the Adventure is so close to the GS in price, the only accessory I must have is the heated grips. which are std on the Adventure.

Std GS1200 = £11650 + £230 for grips = £11880
Std GSA 1200 with grips as std = £12600

Actual difference is only £720.00 I'm almost tempted. Off to the show next week to check them out.

Is this an coast an error to be corrected once hundreds of orders are placed?
There is one error in the pricing, the comfort pack consists of Tyre pressure control and a chrome exhaust for £390.
The two items as optional extras adds up to £315.00

If you really want to prove to yourself what a good price it is fiddle the numbers a bit
GSA - £12600
remove the heated grips -£230
remove the cost of spoke wheels -£355 (these are optional on a std GS)
and the Adventure is only £365 more than the GS Like for Like.

And for that you get a bigger screen, crash bars, better engine???? with sorted drive??? etc etc.
I like it but it makes no sense to me, I'm used to being ripped off with BMW prices.

The engine and final drive will be EXACTLY the same as on the standard 12, so if there are problems on that, there will be on the GSA. But there aren't so it'll be fine.:D

No sir. according to the BMW press release the GSA has a heavier flywheel, an additional damper in the drive and revised suspension mounts.

"Highlights of the new BMW R 1200 GS Adventure:
•Based on the same versatile overall concept as the R 1200 GS, with spirited twin-cylinder boxer engine and agile chassis, but with enhanced off-road prowess and globetrotting abilities.
•Increased flywheel mass in the engine and additional vibration damper for even smoother running and superior rideability."

That's cos BMW have realised that the new "humpback whale" GSA is going to be hard to shift compared to the sportier standard GS and so have priced accordingly :D

Ah, ok. You mentioned a better engine and sorted drive on the GSA, but there are no engine or final drive issues on the non ADV.:nenau

Stahlkoffer now make aluminium panniers for the new GS (ADV). So a set and a topbox would set you back about £750:00. There's a saving of £250:00 already.

I do like my current GSA but at that price I think the hexhead GSA will still be popular. £17000 with all the goodies, BMW can stick that up their well lubes arses unless I have spare money floating down a river somewhere.

There's no history to back up that claim. The GSA proved a popular choice in the Hexhead version for whatever reason and I don't see the sales ratios on the wasserhead being any different. The price differential is inline with what it was before as well, the actual differences between the two bikes doesn't add a great deal of cost when all the options are factored out.

Are you sure the changes won't also be applied to the same year of the std GS? Doesn't make any sense to me for BMW to have two engines on the production line for the std and GSA versions.

Yes but previous versions were good to look at - the latest version with it's humpback whale tank and randomly designed crash bars does not fall into that category ;)

.........nothing to do with me picking up my new vanilla GS tomorrow of course :D

Enjoy your new bike. Personally I think all GS's of whatever persuasion aren't exactly good lookers but then I always did go for the ugly ones as you always get more bang for your buck :beerjug:

Vanilla?

Was that actually an expression BEFORE those mind numbingly stupid books came out?

And now a serious question......

Will there be an equivalent of the enduro gearbox on the new LC Adventure? I've had it on three of my previous Adventures and do rather like it

I've just looked at the finance for the new gs adventure they will give you £1000 towards a deposit,,,, you put 1600 ish, then you only pay £150 a month, after three year you pay a one off payment about £7900,,,,, they only charging £2600 credit charge for three years on £6000,,,,, yer right,,,,, there apr rate is 8.8 any where else is less than 6%
