Hi Chaps,

Still new to the GSA 07, so would appreciate your help :comfort

I dismantled the screen adjusters today, to cut off the lugs and thus allow more adjustment of the screen.
Unfortunatley now they are refitted, I find there is not enough thread left on the inside of the adjuster to fit the locking crome nut:blast
I am sure they are refitted L/H and R/H as marked.

Any ideas:nenau or does anyone have a diagram on sequence of reassembly.

Also out of interest, do most of you ride with your view completely OVER the top of the screen or do you view THROUGH the screen?
Appologies if strange question:augie

Thanks

John

i reckon youve put the tube shaped nuts(the one that goes on before the locking nut)the wrong way round, the tube (with the flats on)goes with the tube facing the outside of the bike.

Hi John

mmm nearly done the same thing to mine when I first brought mine. If you just cut off the nobbly bit it allows the screen to go higher but word of warning the connecting parts that hold the lower end of the screen are not strong enough as they are made of plastic. You can upgrade to metal ones that overcomes this available through nippy normans or touratech. I ended up not moving the screen but buying the touratech screen extension that fits ontop. You still need to upgrade the two plasic parts at the base of the screen but did the job well. Good luck getting the screen together again hope you never actually cut any off the length or your going to have to get replacement parts.

i think you are talking about the lugs at the bottom front of the screen that have metal replacement. cutting the lugs off the side mountings will not mean they need replacing though i can see how the new uppermost position puts more strain on the front mounting. the hatpart of the top hat nut fits inside the screen mount leg ie pointing outwards so it doesn't rotate due to the flats on it. agree this could be your problem.

Hi Paul, Thanks for the advice and now I can achieve a little more screen adjustment I will replace the plastic parts as you have suggested.
If I am still struggling with wind/buffeting I will look into a screen extender.

Do you find your head is now "behind" the screen and your line of vision passes "through" the screen or just "above" it???:nenau

Hi my sight line is actually both bit like varifocal glasses by that I mean when on motorways and the like I look over the top into the distance but in town you tend to look through it when coming up to traffic. I'm 5ft 11 but I can now happily ride with the visor up at between 70 and 80mph. been impressed with it so far.

Hi,
I think everyone has had the turbulence problem with GS/GSA screens, hence the wide variety of solutions.

I've tried all the adjustment tricks including the one you've done without it making any difference.

I've also tried the screen extender - yes it made a difference but it didn't cure it.

I finally ended up with tobinators. Again they don't cure the problem but they do make enough of a difference to stop the turbulence being literally a pain on long rides. I've successfully done 500ish miles in a day without any real problems and I think I would have had a real headache without.

Of course whether any or all of them work for you depends on a variety of factors so see if you can try before you buy somewhere otherwise you'll be selling quite a bit of stuff secondhand on here.

btw, if you search on here I think you may find people who've bought taller / wider screens to solve the problem so maybe that's another option.

Good luck

Dave
