I have an 08 1200gs to which I was thinking of fitting the taller GSA screen and winglets.

It would be nice to eliminate the wind roar which is bad even wearing ear plugs with my Shoei XR1000 with whisper strip fitted.

My question though is about the height of the screen. Sitting on a GSA in a shop the top lip seemed quite high. Can you see over it or does it catch the eye all the time. I know it depends on size of person and seat height but how many of you look over or through it ? What is it like in the rain ?

Try this link, several of us have and purchased a Givi Airflow Screen

Hello

I know where you are coming from. I was very disapponited with my standard screen on my 2008 Gs1200. Too much wind noise and buffetting. So bought the Givi screen and fitted winglets. No more noise, well only from the engine and visor up riding to well above UK legal speeds.

I am 6ft have a low sergeant seat and can see over it fine and it never gets in the way. This is either in the low or high position. Rain wise it keeps most of it off but not all when in high. High setting is quieter but I get buffeting, low setting you get more noise but no buffeting. I pretty much use high in the winter and low in the summer. If its a hot day it can get a bit warm in the high setting.

screen

I fitted the GSA screen + winglets to my old GS for the same reason. I'm 6'4 and I still ended up buying a TT Screen Extender for extra comfort. Viz is no problem but you'd better buy the metal fixings for it as the plastic ones won't be man enough. I think they are about £40 from a dealer or £40 from TT.

Am 5'10" and have the seat on my 1200ADV set on high- am on tippy toes but prefer to be sat on instead of in the bike. Have got the ADV screen with a laminar lip set on a high position. It does catch my eye line in certain circumstances but am now used to it. It sends weather virtually over the top of my helmet and keeps a lot of the weather off.

Have a wunderlich ergo tall screen with tobinators that raise the screen up approx 3 inches- that now seems tiny in comparison- loads of wind noise. never noticed before until I raised up the laminar lip. No buffetting at all on the 1200ADV.

Only time I find the GSA screen gets in my line of sight is when I am going up a short sharp climb. The rest of the time it sits below the sight line, and I am a fairly short 5'8"ish with the seat on the low setting.

GSA screen

I bought a new 12GS 3 months ago and I ordered it with the GSA screen and winglets because I felt the standard screen was next to useless for touring. I find the GSA screen to be a lot better and I can ride visor up at upto 50mph or so although it doesnt stop my arms and shoulders getting soaked in the rain. I am 6ft 1" and have the seat on it's highest setting. I can say that the GSA screen has never obstructed my vision or caught my eye; in fact I dont notice it at all but then my last 3 bikes were all RT's so maybe I'm used to having a big lump of plastic in front of me.
There is one possible issue though. My bike suffers from a gentle steering weave at speeds above 80mph or so and it feels a little light at the front. I have tried every combination of ESA setting and pannier loading to see whether I can get rid of it and the bike has been back to the dealer for a suspension check but all to no avail. I know all GS's feel a little light at the front but my only conclusion is that the GSA screen and winglets are causing the front to lift a bit at speed. I dont have the original standard screen so I cant check whether this is actually the case
