OK, I have now started to gather some miles on the GSA with the low seat on and boy oh boy is it friggin' uncomfortable!!!

But to be fair I was warned about it in advance, so it has not come as a complete shock.

Just had a good discussion with Melvin Hunter who offered his expert advise and some recommendations as to what to have done, as in:-

1) Have it lowered another 1/2" from the low seat height.

2) Have the rear of the seat made a bit wider and thicker, so as to please SWMBO on the odd occasions that she goes on the back.

3) Have a 3/4" gel pad added to the front part only, not worth the expensive for the rear as it will not get the use....I hope!!!

To those that have had seats reworked, not necessarily by Melvin, but what did you have done and were you please with the outcome?

Thanks

Alan

Had the pillion pad gel-padded by Melvin and SWMBO says it is transformed. Rider's seat is now formed to my arse-shape and is comfortable(ish).

Careful you don't get it dirty!!

Wot happened to you last night then....?

You could not move in the Fish 'n' Anchor last night for GS owners...............;)

And the car park was packed to.

If so perhaps you can tell me..is the standard the grey/red and the lo the black coloured one.
I'm a bit confused over options

The std height one is grey/red, the low seat version is only avalable in black and is roughly 30mm lower than the OE one.

You can choose either seat as a "no cost" option, but I decided to get the bike with the grey/red seat and then get the low seat afterwards if I needed to.

My plan being that the grey/red seat would be used when I come to sell the bike and the low seat made better in due course.

Std seat......which one looks the best then??

The Grey and Red by a long way.......but J.B was right in a different thread when he observed they look tattier quicker.

Design over function I spose.

I wonder if Hammerite degreaser would work on the seat

:D

BTBR thanks for photos, bike ordered.Got the best of both..........Standard seat .........in black!

Get a cleaner thats used on rib tubes (boats) works a treat on the seat and one bottle lasts for two years.

I had exactly the same problems as you when I ordered my GSA...silver or black.....black or silver?

I really wanted the silver if I could have got the silver engine as well, but despite the dealers best efforts it was'nt to be!

The black does look very nice...in fact very, very nice, especially when its in the dealers showroom under the spotlights and the black engine really finishes the job of.

BUT in the real world black is a bitch to keep clean and it shows every little mark and scratch so thats why I opted for silver in the end!

If I was buying a GSA to have as show piece then black would be the only colour to go for.........now that should get a reaction! ;)

Plus I wanted to put some Touratech silver side panels on it and they would have looked stupid on a black bike......:D

The only regret that maybe I will have is not getting the low first gear. At the time of ordering the bike, there was not one in stock anywhere in the UK. Therefore I would have needed to order it and then wait 3 months, I decided that I did'nt need it that much.
