I've just bought a second hand 2010 latest model 1200 GSA

And the one SIMPLE thing I can't get to work (and I know it will be a doh moment)!

It has driving lights fitted and they flash, but do not stay on, and the obvious question how???? :blast

The switch only allows it to flash, and before anybody tells me RTM... It's in Dutch, it looks as if it says hold the switch for ten seconds ( tried that and it does not keep the lights on)

Please put me out of my misery how........ :bow

do they have their own switch? On my 1150 I have them wired through the indicator cancel switch, you hold it on for 1 second to switch em on or off...

They have their own switch, they were dealer fitted from new.

The bike is Dutch supplied and shipped out to Brunei... So all the paperwork is in Dutch :blast

The bike even has heated grips, in a location where the average temperature is 32c

Is there a switch at the top of the left hand switch cluster? Should be a simple ON/OFF switch and there's a green light to show you if they are on or not. Engine has to be running as well. These are fused - 7.5amp fuses live under the beak.

Yes there is a switch and yes there is a green light with the on off action, but it only allows you to flash the lights it does not act as an on off, that is exactly my dilemma....

Then I guess the switch is buggered.....

It's a not entirely unusual failure mode for the switch. Mine only managed a few months from new before I only had to lightly touch the switch with a gloved hand for it to turn off. I had it replaced a while later and by that time it would only stay on if I maintained pressure on the rocker.

I don't know how these are wired up, but if it was a conventional wiring system rather than canbus, I'd say it sounds more like a relay fault......if yours is wired with a relay, try swapping that out for another one.....it ought to be a standard ISO relay and they're only a few quid if you haven't got one sitting around :thumb2

Switch failed for my spots on on my 2010 GSA a few months back luckily it was still under warranty. It's a sealed unit and you cant get into it
may be worth getting it checked out

+1 for the switch. I had the same fault.

Note that the fog lights are not on Canbus but are switched by a relay and fused.
