I have purchased this side stand extender for my '09 GSA and it doesn't fit. I tried it to my friend's '11 GSA and it fits like a glove.
I looked at their website and they have a side stand for the older GS models, here.

To be honest, that second picture looks more like mine...

I have made a rough drawing of my stand:

Could somebody with an '05 GS measure his stand and compare it with my dimensions?

Thanks in advance.

Put an Ice Hockey Puck on it from 'Crazy Kenny's' in Worksop £1 sumat each, does the job perfectly. Got one on each bike! (Stops 1200's trying to fall over!)

stand extender

i fitted one of those NN extenders to my 2010 gs, they have go on from the back but they are very tight going on!! Used a rubber mallet to 'help it on'
Don't know why it needs a grub screw it'll never come off. HTH

good advice here - i reckon if you persevere then you will fit the item eventually - the other cameltoe type extenders don't really do anything for the extreme lean angle of the bike - they more or less spread the load on soft ground

I can't squeeze it in; my stand is more like a rectangle and the NN extender has a triangular shape. That's why I asked for a quick confirmation from an '05 GS owner. I believe my bike has a different stand, probably from an older batch.:nenau

The following pictures demonstrate quite clear what I am going through...:comfort

1 of your pics shows the centre stand which has the later straight type of cross brace as opposed to thje earlier semi circular one, I suspect the side stand is also of the later type, order the later type (06 on ) and it will fit, I don't recall ever seeing a pre facelift (pre 06) 1200 with the later type of stands but confess I haven't really been looking for the difference, maybe yours is a transition bike (between model years) or maybe some very late 05 bikes were the facelift model :nenau

Maybe yours is a ringer :eek sorry...... :hide

The stand is the latest style, you are right...
The welded 'foot' might be different?

I know I have asked before, but could somebody with an '05 model give me a rough idea of the dimensions of their footplate?

:hug

hi i bought the same side stand for my 30th anniversary gsa and had similar problem. upon closer inspection, some parts of the welding on the foot at the sides were 'swollen' and so was not able to wear the shoe smoothly. solution: file the swollen welding parts flatter, file also the foot to make it slimmer, spray black, rubber mallet the shoe on, some wd40 helps.
definitely more than a few minutes job i would say,,,

I ended up removing a mm from the stand's foot and the extender finally went in.
