If its meant to happen its meant to happen.

Last night, back from a run, park the bike outside my front door in Fulham with a disclock only on, meaning to take it to my garage nearby after dinner.

I hear its alarm go off and big "crack" noise. I run to the window and two subhumans on a Tmax with no numberplate are wheeling it away. One is riding, the pillion is being pulled on my bike by rope.

I call the police, while randomly one plain clothes unit intercept the yob duo a mile down the road. In the subsequent chase, yob2 drops the bike on 2 parked cars and escapes on their scoot.

The apes escape, the bike is wedged under a car on its side. Broken beak and various other plastics and offside damage to the ugly bars. Looks straight, no damage to wheels, brakes. Steering lock broken, but neither cylinders nor bar ends have touched down, which looks miraculous.

Keyless bit wouldnt work for 30mins or so, then it started. Bikes rides ok, its going back for insurance assessment to its service station tomorrow, possibly forever...

540 miles on the odo. Not worth having good stuff in this stupid city. I need a police white RT i think to be safe from the subhumans. And a large shotgun.

Lots of thoughts about shooting said animals in the balls with a .73 inch gauge next time I spot them...

Gutted.

Pleased you recovered it so quickly and relatively little damage. But what about the two cars? They presumably are damaged?

The TMax scooter mobs seem to be able to do what they want in London with little intervention from the police who seem reluctant to 'engage'.

Car 1 has front nearside damage, and being a 15yo VW, i suspect might be a write off. Car 2 has small rear bumper dent, which had it been mine I probably wouldnt bother to fix.

To be fair all 3 police units engaged last night were exceptional. One set of guys came and picked me up from my house after they recovered the bike. Another team helped me with the bike, one of the officers was a biker himself, then after we started it made sure I am safe and followed me to my garage, then took me back home.

It all kinfpd of depends of speed of action. Had I been away or asleep when it happened and delay to call it by even 10mins bike would have been a goner. Lets see, I still hope its a simple cosmetic fix as it looks and feels straight.

I had similar many years ago, (non GS)

they caught the fecker after a chase, i recvered the bike, one dinged rim, and cosmetics to the plastics ... Write off :(

The scrote got a slap on the wrist

boils the old urine!!!

I am so glad that you got your bike straight away.

Be Safe, Ride Safe

Glad you got it back. A few scrapes etc is easier to manage than a missing bike.

Always go for the alarmed lock - it does help.

As Pat asked, what disc lock and how did they break it?

We need to apply a bit of old-fashioned justice to these fekkers and just shoot the cnuts, plain and simples:rob

Then they get guns and shoot you first.

They know they are in a sweetspot covered by the Law. Its a win win for them.

They either get away with the theft and make loads of money. Or they get caught and injured in the process, get compensation payout and free accomodation in the University of Criminals for a higher education.

I am glad you are OK and the bike got recovered.

I am glad I don't live in London were community spirit seems to be non existent. I can't understand how people don't see someone towing a bike and think that is normal. When stealing a bike they must have to do this for a few miles at least. Why does nobody see this at the beginning, middle or end of their journey and report it to the police?

I for one would be happy to pay an extra £10 / £20 "tax" on my insurance premium which would go to employ a dedicated stolen bike squad.

In Kennesaw, Georgia, in 1982, the City Council passed a law requiring all residents to have a gun in the house to "protect the safety, security and general welfare of the city and it's inhabitants."

The crime rate dropped 89% in the city.

EDIT : NO IDEA why this was posted twice?? Technology getting carried away with itself.

Very sorry to hear this, every sympathy; no pain is too great for those responsible.

No consolation to you but it also acts as a warning to those of us (and I may be the only one) whose insurance doesn't cover you if the bike is not in the garage at home and not more than a certain distance from home.

Disc Lock was a fluo red Oxford I have had for years. With a proper key, not a circlular fob. My cctv shows a bit of shuffling about (it was dark unfortunately) for 30-40 secs before one jumped up and broke the steering lock... all in all, steering lock, disclock and tow in under 1 minute.

In hindsight only a huge chain would have averted it I think, and the shame is I have it, but was meaning to be taking it to my garage for the night. Bike was only stationary for 1.30hr max while I had dinner and caught up with my daughter a bit.
