Hi all

What do you recommend for paint protection on 2018 GSA Triple Black fuel tank sides? Was thinking clear matt film from Invisible Patterns near Warrington, but if anyone has any other recommendations, would be much appreciated.

The invisible patterns kit is great, and they are good to deal with.

They know their stuff, and one of the owners has a GSA himself.

I’ve used them, and chipguard uk before, the chipguard tank kit is about £40 delivered and easy to fit. This is my old GSA with the kit I fitted after about 7k miles.

I know it’s glossy, but I liked it

That’s just what I’m looking for. Gloss does look good, may have to have a re think. Have a bit of Wilko clear vinyl on at the mo to protect it.

I’d been looking at those for my 2014 GS, but the ones I like say they are for 2017 models. From photos the tanks do look different can anyone confirm if that’s so & whether it would matter. Thanks

I have a “Rubbatech” tank pad fitted (https://rubbatech.co.za/online/index.php?route=product/product&path=91_95_96&product_id=120) which I sourced through their Facebook page and bought through Amazon UK.
I’ve spoken on line to “Louis” who I think runs the company as I too want some protection for my TB. Hopefully, he is going to start producing a set of 3 pads for each side of the TB, to go onto the black “letters”. This would give good protection from knee rub, but also good grip when standing on the pegs.

I like the idea of that Phil. But just placed an order with Chip Guard for the clear film. Have to say, sent an online query about mixing matte sides with gloss centre pane and Steve from there replied within an hour earlier. Great service for a Sunday.

What did he recommend? Looking at getting this done for a new red GSA, glossy tank, Matt sides. So interested in his reply

Thanks

Just said they can supply both gloss and matte, or combination of the two, let him know what you want when you order.

I really like that ,think I’m going to order the tank kit for my TB

It'll be interesting to see the mix of gloss matt. Did you go for it? I think I'd possibly mix these for tank protection with the Rubbatech pads (once produced) for grip.

Yes, should have them tomorrow. Hopefully they should blend in with the bodywork well. Sides are matt and centre panel is gloss on mine.

Bit of a drama ordering from Chipguard, the web ordering function was down all yesterday and order never went through. So ended up paying Invisible Patterns in Warrington a visit today.
Bought a diy 3m Ventureshield tank kit (Matt sides and gloss centre). The side panel cover the whole area and have cut outs where the GS logo is. Took a bit of time to fit and had to remove and refit the centre panel (which comes in 4 pieces) a couple of time to remove bubbles, but really pleased with the end result. Just need to see how it stands up to normal wear and tear.
