I recently noticed my 2008 GSA making a ticking noise when the ignition is on after it has done it's initial 5 seconds of whirring and buzzing. It sounds like a quiet clock or indicator on in the car kind of sound, about 3 times per second. It is coming from the front of the bike under the dash somewhere. Does anybody know what this is (or if it is bad) - I have never noticed it before ? This is before I start the engine btw !

Does it sound like a bomb??!!

If Sandra Bullock offers to ride it, Keanu Reeves starts chasing you on foot from a stop light, and you can hear Dennis Hopper chuckling maniacally from an adjoining building, I'd say you're in trouble...

If Sandra Bullock offers to ride it I think I will stop worrying about it :bounce1

Someone at the dealer mentioned that but I don't think I have the exhaust flap on mine - I think they came in on the DOHC models ?

oh yeah. for a minute there i thought they were on post 08s, but you're right :blast

Is it the second hand on the clock. I can't hear the one on my RT but you might have a loud one?

:nenau

ignition on engine running ? could be noisy injectors ?

or just ignition ? on not a clue :nenau

Well I was hoping to get at least one sensible response :(

Had something like that on my old 1150. Washed the bike and after that the ticking was heard. Turned out to be corroded wiring loom. The insulation cracked and the wires were shorting

Do you have ESA? If you do, it could be the stepper motors on the front unit not being able to park correctly so just keep going. Is your ESA working correctly as far as you can tell? I had this situation once on my old ESA shocks but luckily I have a GS911 and by fiddling around with that managed to get them to park again. Not sure exactly what I did to be honest and its not necessarily the same problem you have but its a thought.
