Hi all. Does anyone here have one of the SW Motech Evo 22l GS tank bags with the quicklock mechanism? If you have what is the rigidity of the curve like? Is it enough to hold the bag away from the tank if it's loaded with something heavy like a chain for example?

I've got one on my 1150.

It's very rigid and keeps well off the tank. I haven't put a heavy chain in it but have had it fairly loaded up and it's been fine.

I have one... pretty rigid and mine sits off the tank ok. Don't forget you get to position the fitting so you can set it away from the tank more if you need to. A very cool tank bag;):beerjug:

If you have a keyless bike the sw motech plastic mounting underside can rub the paint off the keyless filla flap release pull lever. Well it did on my 2016GS. I have remided the problem on my bike by grinding away some of the black plastic from the underside of the motech bag mount, and just to be doubly sure I have put some protective clear adhesive film onto the bikes filla lever.

This is only on the keyless filla as it sticks up slightly more proud than the standard flap.

It is a great system, I keep swopping mine from bike to bike.

Get the low profile Euro tank mount, it looks best.

I had one that kept falling off the mount.
In the end I cable tied it to a pannier.

It will touch if it's crammed full of gear. I just fitted some tank protectors stickers to stop it marking the paintwork :thumby:

When I ordered mine, at the bike show in November, they asked if I had keyless, which I did. They then ordered a different ring to which they going to supply. I guess this may raise the clearance a little? If you have keyless, make sure you tell them

Al, it's the clearance between the back of the tank and the part of the tank bag which hangs down. This clearance is set by the position of the connector on the bag which you drill yourself, but it needs to be fairly close to the back of the tank so it doesn't get in the way too much. I set mine with about 15-20mm clearance and most of the time it's fine, but I mainly use it on tour, so it's crammed with camera gear, spare gloves, bottles of water etc. and eventually touches the tank.

Yes, my #3 reply was in respect to that clearance. I set mine at about 20mm to avoid contact with the tank. But have just bought a tank pad to be sure of no scratching. Might be worth considering?
My #8 reply was in response to the point made by batman1 over the petrol filler cap. Hope that's clear... as mud maybe ... :-)
