Can anyone help with parts numbers please - looking for a used shift assist unit for a 2016.5 GS: is the same part 8543012 used across all WC GS’s from when the option was introduced ie all 1200 and all the 1250 models up to 2023? So I can buy any used unit from any year? They all seem to have the same part number but some A105 or A103 after this?

Not teaching you to suck eggs but have you used Real OEM to check part numbers?? It will show you what parts are used on across all bikes

Not at all - thanks very much. :beerjug:

It seems to be the same part on all the 1200/1250 and RT (guessing that is a 2019 catalogue so only shows model runs to 2020?):

Catalog: 12/2019

I don't suppose the A105 or A103 is relevant though - just a batch number or similar?

Thanks again - there are a few on eBay around £200 but Motorworks seem cheaper. Doesn't include the spline/bolt/washer (23418556234) but maybe best to get this new anyway as just quoted £8 for the fitting kit.

If your retrofitting,

ie not replacing factory fitted, most insurance companies see this as a mod ( so should be declared )

Anyone help with a stupid thing that has me stumped - how do you get the cap off the GSAP plug?!! Driving me nuts! Normally there is a clip or sprung plastic bit but lying awkwardly trying to work it out has me flummoxed - there is a grey bit that looks like it should release it.....

Is there nothing in the Service Manual you have??

Just ‘remove cap’! Honestly, undone loads of plugs but this one is hard to access and see what’s going on with the clip/release etc method and don’t want to break anything.

Some of the BMW wiring plugs have a grey tab. From memory, you have to squeeze these in and pull them up with your nail and then the plug will release.

Thanks I'll try that - sorry to sound like a numpty but it's buried in the middle of the bike, lying on the floor with a creaky neck and dodgy eyesight adds to the ineptitude!

Sorted - I made the mistake of not cutting the upper cable tie (only the lower) to allow it to drop down enough.
