GT1000 Wot do you reckon - anyone have / had one?

Hi folks - toying with the idea of a GT1000 to play with for a while. Would be used for the usual local blasts around on the weekend and the odd (1-2 a year) short-ish tours with mates into Spain/Luxemburg/Germany etc. Have seen the odd one for sale now and again, but not ridden one as yet.

Anyone on here had one (or still has one) and who could shed some light on ownership pros/cons etc.

Not had one (had darmah desmo 900, 600ss, and now a 950 supersport) but met a guy who’d bought one. it was quite pokey (more than enough grunt) and handled well but wasn’t as comfortably set up as my current 950. Sounded great and looks a lot better in the flesh than in photos. They seem to be fast appreciating modern classics.

Nice looking bike but not the first bike I would choose for touring, even short tours.
