Guilty pleasures - bikes you like when you know you shouldn't.....

My brother, who wants to get his license, is liking the idea of a Van Van very much!

If you weren't already convinced enough - check out this ride report from a bunch of guys going to the Alps on Van Vans - http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=622071

VanVan is my fourth bike in the fleet and it is a blast to ride.
Course you HAVE to put on a very different head to ride, as the
poor little thing will just about do 62MPH. I put some pics up of mine
after i finish the GSA style mods:eek::D
Lyn as has been said before:: keep on keeping on.

OK, so which are the bikes you like, which you know, deep down, you really shouldn't?

For me, top of the list is the FT500.

The first time I saw one (Arnold Moore, Huddersfield, I think) I absolutely and completely fell for it.

The first time I read a ride report (and it seemed to be on its back wheel, most of the time), I loved it.

Almost everything I've read since then has told me that they're dogs, awful, steer clear, failures.... but deep down, I liked it when it was new and still after all these years I'd really, really like one. Bloody lovely, IMHO :D

What's your guilty pleasure...?

PG

FT 500 you are a sick son of a bitch and you need help

i watched one of these glide down blackman lane when i was 15, never forgot it. i want this bike,

Nothing guilty about one of those!

I had the 600 Pantah. Eventually, I went racing with it; there didn't seem to be any alternative. You can pick one up for a reasonable price still.

I had a Suzuki TS185ER for a while, it was more fun that it ought to be, for commuting round the South Circular, even while sliding down Streatham High Street on my arse...

IIRC....1982....500 Pantahs were being sold off for two grand ish....The 600 was imminent....

The new Triumph TSS was being banged out at the same price.....

I chose the TSS.......:blast :blast :blast :blast :blast :blast :blast :blast

I took a VF750F out for a test ride on its launch year in the early eighties. It was fantastic. Looked superb, sounded glorious, handled brilliantly, had power everywhere (by comparison to my CX500) and yet was as smooth as silk all the way past 10,000 rpm. What not to like?

I was in love - fortunately I had insufficient readies to make a deal otherwise I'd have been the owner of one of Honda/motorcycling's biggest pigs in a poke!

They did, still do, look good though.
