So after much deliberation.
I've gone and done it.
Traded in Gunter,a very nice 98 1100gs against a 09 1200gs.
Greta is cosmetically very good, zero corrosion anywhere BUT
Gearbox is well on the way out rattles like a bag of spanners in neutral and has bearing noise also
The ABS isn't working
The tpms ain't working

BUT I gave 2500euro with Gunter for the change.
Plan is rebuild box,buy motoscan to check abs
And ignore Tpms until tyres are due
Other plus points fuelguage and EAS are working fine ,final drive seems good, drive shaft to be checked come the weekend.

Please tell me I haven'tt made a giant cock up 🤣🤣🤣

You’ve hit the sweet spot on Hexhead IMO. Twin cam to smooth, need a bit of grrrrrrr 🤣.

Worth spending on shock refurb, if the gearbox is failing apart it must need shock work. Good luck and enjoy.

Hopefully today I can get stuck in and do a full on check over,at the very least ill post a pic or 2

Ok the results are in.
Gearbox isn't as bad as I thought still noisy mind.
Driveshaft and final drive both sweet as.
I think front abs sensor is kaput (rough test with multimeter).
Both Tpm's sensors dead.
Beginnings of bearing noise front wheel.
Rear caliper was half sized.
New final drive bellows wouldn't hurt.
And that's about it.
Overall very happy

Had a 1100GS for 10 years & moved up to a 2010 GSA - IMHO the 1200 is a far better bike & I never thought I would say that as I loved my 1100.
