So if often thought of getting myself a Guzzi in my younger years it was a Le Mans but recently I've had the notion for a Cali.
Having just sold a FJR I couldn't get on with I find myself with £2500-£3000 to spend 😁
So looking again at possibly a Calli 1100i, but Italian mosickles being, well Italian is there any areas of concern I should be looking out for ?

newer than what ? 2.5-3k£ should get you a very nice 1100i or early ev BUT ....go for something with an m15 computer . much better than the p8/7 computer .

Check for any oil misting coming from the small clutch breather slot on the underside between the engine and gearbox. Any sign is likely to mean a rear crank bearing or oilseal is on its way out. Failure to act soon means a new clutch too. Silencers and exhaust collector boxes rot but can be replaced by a 'H' piece and stainless.

Did quite a bit of European touring on mine without serious problems. The 1100i had a slightly different shaped seat compared to the carb models due to the ECU positioning underneath and it does take getting used to (airhawk in my case) Did 800 miles in one hit on mine coming back from the Swiss border to Derbyshire, I hadnt intended to but it was just 'going so well' that I didnt feel like stopping.

Id like to say something positive but my newly purchased 13 plate v7 is still in work shop sicky bad no well..... right cylinder started to pop and fart... classic mis firing symptoms Ht leads I suggested... initially thought to be an rpm sensor... no wait cam shaft sensor, no wait iy must be the ht leads breaking down.... MG have upgraded the v7 ht and caps , so maybes a know fault

apart from that love it...

I got a '98 Cali Special a few years back. I've toured Europe extensively on it and it never missed a beat. Even the electrics excelled through massive downpours in the Alps. Brilliant bike and built like a tank. And no reverse gear though...

I was once told by a Guzzi officianado never to buy a Guzzi showing less than 10,000 miles as it should be sorted by then.

I have owned 6 MGs over the years, from T3 / 4, LeMans, Breva, 2 x V11s, none ever let me down other than a sticky start relay on V11(easily sorted). :thumb
