Am thinking of getting some H+B engine bars for my 1200, for when the inevitable happens
However, I have been know, on occasion, to corner "enthusiastically", so I'm wondering, how do the bars affect the ground clearance when cornering? I'd imagine having a bar hit the ground is not something you want to happen, as unlike the footpegs, they don't spring back!
Has anyone got experience of this, and whether the bars or the pegs will touch down first?
I remember we discussed this a while back, and someone posted a pic of a table leasning up against the bike (simulating the ground when the bike is leant over) that seemed to show the bars would touch first - but of course the bike was on the centre stand and unloaded. The more weight you put on the bike, the more the rear end will sag, making the bars less likely to touch first, I reckon.
By the way, I know from experience, that with a load of about 200kg and the rear preload at max, the first thing to touch in a corner is the centre stand
But with a less lardy pillion, the footpegs scrape first
