H&B Tank Bars

Is anyone familiar with the metal used in these bars? I need to cut and widen a set I have and am wondering if I can take them to any old welder or if I'd need to take them somewhere more specific?

Normal steel I think on the 1100/1150 at least. I just cut and slugged mine with turned 2cm extension pieces and welded them as normal.

Just welded a couple of lamp brakets on mine without any peoblems
if i can do it and make it look OK anyone can
