Got an email today telling me that I've been hacked and all the usual bollox about me supposedly going on adult sites (no feckin way) and how to pay bitcoins into their account.

Do I just delete it or what?

Many thanks

Kimbo

Play along, play the victim, pretend to be intimidated and fearful. Tell them you’ll cooperate and pay them money and ask for their bank details or however Bitcoin works.
When you have all that information and anything else you feel might help identify them, report them to the Police for blackmail.

Yes. Delete it.

Dont do this. Just deleted and ignore.

Usually what they do is threaten to hijack your acc and close it down in 48 hours or so. They probably don’t have your login password. I’d change that. If they’re only threating to email all your contacts with your history of adult browsing I wouldn’t be too worried. Do not engage with them unless you’re very clued up. They have probably sent out 100000000 emails of a similar nature. The last thing you want is for them to focus in on you. JJH

I recently got one of those phishing texts pretending to be from my Son or Daughter, you know the ones claiming they’d had their phone stolen and now urgently need some money to buy a new phone and they were using a friends phone. They claim they can’t remember all their bank details as they were on their stolen phone but I could send the money to their friends account who’s mobile they’re using.
I played along for a laugh as I was bored. The stupid twats gave me their account number, sort code and the account holder name. I then rang the bank and spoke to their fraud department providing details of the scam, how much they’d asked for, their name and account number, mobile number etc. The person I was speaking with confirmed the details I’d provided matched the account holders details so they took the report seriously and froze the account pending further investigation. The fraud department even confirmed there had been some similar deposits recently into this account not too dissimilar to the amount which had been requested from me.
How I laughed to myself afterwards, disruption of these criminals is very satisfying.

Quick update!! Two more very similar emails today, both reported to virginmedia and also the Government phishing site, deleted and blocked both, fucking persistent or what?Cnuts

The temptation to answer an unknown number is great In teh Big BAd Dark world it is a HUGE industry and if you answer one of them They all start to call!

It is as if you got a "tick" Yup They answered Go get them Floyd!

Personally I don't bother If they want me they will write and if they spell anything wrong it goes in the bin

In the last two days I've had a paypal invoice to my works address, for payment to a random stranger :roll

And this morning I've had a reasonably worded an email with aa PDF invoice from paypal again from a person who's name is nothing like the gmail address it came from

Gmail reckons the attachment is safe - inspecting it shows nothing obvious. bit it will stay un-downloaded or unread

I nuked the feker too :D

Sadly, AI means that we're seeing a huge increase in the number of these (ten times as many as just a couple of years ago) and they're also getting more sophisticated and more targeted as the AI learns what works best and where.

Sooooooooo

Don;t answer Calls Unless you are expecting them

Let them speak first if you do

DO NOT Say "Yes" or "No" or your Name OR Divulge any data Remember they called you Your speech can be used to access bank accounts now!!

It seems that call centre staff will become obsolete due to AI

I really do find it Ironic that people RUSH to AI as if it is the next Saviour :alien::alien::alien:

For goodness sake has no one seen Terminator!! Or the Matrix

This is what I’ve been telling everyone from day one and they all laugh but the truth is it really could become a reality at some point in the future.

Mankind creates A.I, the machines become self-aware and turn on us.

Imagine what will happen when A.I takes over the Internet 😮

It has undertones of the Independence day movie, when they are all on the roof welcoming the aliens and then ........

Hopefully we are long gone before that happens
