Any MAC fans out there ?

Anyone taken a Windows laptop and done the hackintosh thing ?

I like our iMac, but I cannot justify having a Macbook pro as well as all the windows laptops in our house. BUT I do have a few spare windows laptops, that I'd like to run OS/X if possible.

It's probably unlikey, but here's hoping someone has done it here.

cheers
Aaron

cheers Ianf, I knew that the dell mini 9 is a good choice, which is why it is back available for sale in the us.

Ther is a handy compatibility chart here.

BUT I really didn't want to buy another bit of kit for this.

As I have a couple of Dell very small footprint Latitudes (bit like netbooks - but with a decent 12" screen L400), that I just fancied putting an OS on that would be pretty quick, useful and not memory / hdd / cpu hungry.

why not download one of the hackintosh/os-x dvd images available on bittorrent and give it a go on what you have?

i don't think you'll get it all to work, but at least it's not cost you anything but a load of aggro (i've read the How Tos).

Yep I have done it to a Dell mini 9 it runs really sweet all the bits work WIFI cam audio the install is easy using a usb stick but you should have at least a 16 gig in the hackintosh computer

Yes; my Hackintosh worked far better than my G5 PowerMac, didn't have any applications fail :-)

But, I've since reformatted and gone back to Windows (Win7).
