Nildram "upgraded" my local exchange to LLU a fortnight ago. After the work I had no internet or phone line for 7 days and now after they got it working, I get between 4 and 18 hours of ADSL connection a day. My line speed has dropped from a reliable 4Mb to between 200-450kb as an added inconvenience.

After countless conversations to their "support" staff it's no better. They reckon there's nothing wrong their end blah blah blah. I can't be bothered trying to sort it out anymore and am going to switch provider.

I thinking about trying Zen - anyone else with them? They seem pricey but always seem to be the top of the service provider rankings. They also offer 1 month contracts.

nildram are not what they were re: customer service but i've seen people switching the other way from zen too.

all a bit hit & miss IMO.

mrTickle,

Have a look at http://www.adslguide.org.

Their communities board will give you the low down on every isp with comments direct from customers. The biggest problem I had changing isp was getting a MAC ( migration code ) which you cannot switch without.

It makes interesting reading to see other peoples opinions. The biggest complaint is always being shite customer service . A national disability we seem to have.

Good luck

i was going to suggest that, as a quick post on the nildram forum would soon have a nilly CS person actioning your problem. this seems to have become less reliable lately, but is probably still worth a try.

We've had Nildram hosting customers signing up with us in droves lately, mainly due to the lack of support over the last 6 months or so. Apparently it all started going to pot when Pipex took them over in 2004.

Sorry to be rather negative here, but basically, any of the 'cheap end' ISP's have shite 'customer service'...and in fact right up to the high end in some cases. As has been said, it seems to be a national malaise...not just in IT !
