After a good 3 hour test ride, had a complete blast. Took me half an hour to retune the brain (and get used to the indicators :nenau ), but after that WOW!!!!! what a great bit of kit!! Why didnt I buy one earlier?????

so we now have a brand new, shiny, graphite grey, R1200GS on order, which arrives in 2 weeks time.......

I CANNOT WAIT!!

Better to speak to a mod' about changing my username now......

Thanks to all for your advice, on my earlier thread, and looking forward to being a GS'er! :beerjug: :beerjug: :beerjug:

(as you can probably tell, I am very excited...... )

Hurrah! :clap

You'll not regret it. I recently moved up to a 1150GS from a sports bike and I'm loving it.

The only problem you have is that the next 2 weeks will be the longest 2 weeks of your life :(

Oh, and get yerself some ACF-50 to keep it all the nasty winter corrosion away :thumb

Cheers Chunky! actually its 13 days 20 hours and 15 minutes.........

And the scottoiler F365 is in the garage awaiting the new machine!

What sport bike did you have?

The Chunky bike history in chronological order:

Kawasaki KR1-S
Suzuki RGV 250
Honda CBR 600
Yamaha YZF-6R
Kawasaki ZX7-R
Ducati 748
Kawasaki KLR 250 (on Nigerian Roads)
Suzuki GSX-R600 (on Polish Roads)
BMW R1150GS :thumb

What bike did you have MIKE ?? i had a SP2 before the GS12 and have never regreted the change for a second.

Until a week on saturday I have a Honda Blackbird, which is a really great bike, but just too quick and to be honest I am a bit of a spectator on the bike, ........And I have always secretly yearned after the GS :thumb

After the test ride, on the way home, the Bird' felt really tiny and uncomfortable!! and its not a small bike !

Good to see you you picked a suitable user name for this site Jonathon :beerjug:

Thanks for all the advice on the phone the other night...had a great ride on the 1200GS, but had an Akropovic can fitted which sounded awesome. The Blackbird felt very uninvolving on the way home, and you were quite right; if I kept both I would never ride the Blackbird, so its gone when I buy the GS.

Fancy a weekend away camping when the weather improves? I can take lots of gear on the bike now...... :bounce1

Thanks again.

Yep sounds good to me. You can lend me some space in your panniers :)

yes. thats right. Seem like a good crowd? What do you think of them?

The seem a pretty fair bunch to me too.

I was there on Sat am getting a new battery fitted to mine. (Duff one from new). No hassle even got the loan of an F800ST, it was good fun. But the GS felt so much better when I got back on it.

Only issue so far seems to be the high cost of servicing, 6K is coming round fast and SLM have quoted £250 ish.

Fitted my Remus end can today, even more fun now.
