Anyone on here doing the Hafren on dec 10th. Have you, or do you know anything about camping facilities/sites nearby ??????

We are camping here, not stayed there before but it is only about 4 miles from sweet lamb and about 5 from Llanidloes. 2 of us are camping and three are staying in the farm. She is going to do all of us breakfast though. See you there.

Camping is normally allowed at the start area. Facilities are limited though, depends what time the catering van gets there. Plenty of running water, the Severn runs along one side (though there are times when it looks as if it runs through 
). There is a gate at the entrance which the farmer locks at night, so check what time before you go to the social!
There are quite a few who normally sleep in their vans, not seen many tents. Take a good hammer if you do, the ground is pretty hard and the conditions are typically Welsh, ie wet n wild!

That site and B&B is run by Jean, daughter is Sue.
I stayed there each year of the Hafren, will not be there this year though.
Good place to stay, although Jean does love to talk. (understatement)
You can park trailer in front or down the side of the house.
I would not camp in the parc ferme, only good for caravans, camper vans etc. Ground is rock hard and usually 3 inches deep with sandy coloured water.
10th December! Wet, cold & windy - 2 laps if you are lucky.
The Hafren Rally used to be in October over 2 days - 3 - 4 laps each day. Well worth the money then, not sure it is worth the money now.
