Hagon shocks

Hi All
Anyone had experience with Hagon shocks ? I cannot afford the Ohlins route . I don't need it to be easily adjustable as once set up I tend not to fiddle . The Hagon look and seem to be good quality . There doesn't seem to be much about them here !

I have one fitted to my Honda Dominator. It's a perfectly good shock and Hagon offer a rebuild service should it ever need it. It was slightly longer than the standard shock which raised the ride height (I wasn't expecting this), so it would be worth checking those sort of details with them.
 
The were a very good upgrade for many a bike back in the day! I don't know if they have kept up with the rest of the manufacturers though. I seem to remember that they would completely service and repair shocks for resonable cost. I used to think that any new shock on my older Jap bikes was a worth while upgrade, but you would think that BMW would fit a decent unit to their bikes so maybe with BMW you have to spend a bit more to get the improvement. That said I would be willing to bet the cost of the original shocks would get you a good bit of the way to some of the more fancied replacement shocks!!
 
I recall a few Trumpet owners having bush seizure issues which twatted other parts of the suspension. Something to do with the oem shock having a movable bearing and the hagon having a solid bush that needed to rotate around the shank of the through bolt. Though this may be a case of a failure to RTFM when fitting? But I'd feel these were a "oh fek my shocks are fekked whats the cheapest ones I can get to fit" kinda thing. if it were mine I'd look at maxton, nitron etc , but it aint.
 
I have used Hagon on my VTR and they were okay. I have also used Nitron on my VFR and Blackbird and found them to be better made in terms of finish, slightly cheaper and they seem to be more 'supple' when riding. Also they are fully rebuildable look good as well.:thumb2
 
Worth having a chat to John Gaskell at Revs Racing to ask if he can rebuild your standard shock, or maybe do you a deal on Wilbers units.
 
Had a few Hagons - always found them harsh, stiffer than is comfy or healthy. (well - for my back anyhow).
I'd try for a rebuild. ;)
i'd only buy Hagon if i really was skint now.
 
I've had Hagon shocks and springs on a couple of bikes with no issues. I would not be averse to fitting to a GS, money saved could buy a lot of fuel.
 
Had a Hagon on my RT100 monolever. Was fine, better than stock , never had any issues with it.

Plus, and this is very important, the spring was white, which matched my bodywork. Bonus! :D
 
I have twin Hagons on my Suzuki GT750 kettle (rubbish handling originals in storage). The Hagons are a little stiff (but still new) and the bike actually handles. Ive also had them on MZs ditto the bike handled. Those who don't hate MZ strokers for being cheap will know that original MZ suspension actually suits the bike.

Yamaha Diversion 900s are much better with Hagons and having no monolever type mechanism they need a good shock. My Diversion has also had a WP emulsion shock but it was no better than the Hagon. However the WP was more adjustable.

I do suspect that Hagon's standard spring and damper settings are more appropriate for people who want stiffer suspension than standard. They will need to be quizzed in detail if you want identical settings to the original.
