Hairy / fury seat covers.

lambland cover - how do you fix em to the seat?

Hi all, just invested into one of these bits of sheep to cover the front seat of my GS:eek:. How did you guys attach it to the seat? I was thinking along the lines of trying to attach some velcrow straps or elastic etc with a few stiches :nenau I'm sure someone will have a good method?
Any help/advice much appreciated, thank you.

Chris.

Just like you said :thumb2

Bought some 3/4" elastic and velco from a sewing shop. Made straps front and back of each seat pad (I did one for SWMBO's pillion seat as well) which secure with the velcro underneath the seat. You'll need a strong needle and either a sailmakers palm or some needle nosed pliers to push the needle through the sheepskin.

It's a fairly tedious job (but I sew a fair bit of leather together for knife sheath's so I'm used to it ;) ) do it in front of the telly.

Had a couple of sheepskins from Lambland - white (natural) ones get dirty in time - black ones the dye tends to come off onto your trousers when they get wet.

Discovered by accident that a rok strap does the job perfectly
You can't see it, and it doesn't sit where your bum is so makes no difference to the padding..... and you can unhook it in seconds and throw the fleece in the pannier ;) The hooks sit nicely under the edge of the seat both sides

Think a black one would be less obvious though :D

I got some 1" elastic strap stuff and the missus sewed a length front to back and another side to side. :thumb2 Like Bryn's it can be removed in seconds. It's also used to hold a putnams air cushion in place. :augie

Does anyone have any pics of the Lambland seat cover on their bike?

And does it come with a strap?

I can't really see what they look like on their web site.

Thanks in advance...

It's not a 'seat cover' as such - you just get a piece of fleece of approximately the right size. Trimming and strap fitting etc is all DIY :thumb
