Half price Garmin lifetime maps!!

For those of us with Garmin sat navs Argos is doing them at half price, according to the box the nuvi & zumo units are also covered 4 updates per year

Mine just landed so this weekend will attempt to load it

i took advantage of this offer,garmin express updated my unit in a couple of hours,no problem.it wont update my mapping on my computer though because garmin express keeps closing down.should have done em both together but ill just sort the computer another day

Can the negative Garmin comment posters expand a bit please instead of the one line remarks.

Well, if you look at the Garmin price I'd say it's more than half RRP. However, usually £50 or thereabouts from Handtec is generally the best deal (wasn't aware of Argos regular price of £44.99) so it's still well worth buying if you want lifetime mapping updates.

What are the problems?

I think they're alluding to the difficulty some people encounter in actually updating the maps on their devices and PCs. It isn't flawless but there is plenty of guidance on here on how to do it so it does work. It's not that hard to do but not the turn-key operation that Garmin Express seems to promise, in fact it's currently better to use the old map-updater.

used this update a couple of days ago and last night i used my 660 on a run up to livingstone to check it was ok,everything seems ok but the language guide has disappeared from the tools menu....anybody got any idea why or how to rectify this minor problem?

You probably did a firmware update as part of the process. ISTR that this feature has been removed. From what I recall the language guide was pretty weak anyway but that might have just been a cut-down trial version that came with my GPS.

yup,whilst i was updating the maps i thought it was a good idea to update the firmware too,too much logical thinking i suppose
