Hampshire green laning day 27th May

Lubo

Sorry to hear you can't make it, hopefully you will have a trailer for the next trip out.

For thoughs interested we will probably be back at the car park by no later than 4pm.

David

There is one on the A3 near liphook about 3 miles away and ones in Bordon a similar distance away. What time are you planning to get to the meeting point?

Spent all day yesterday working on my Husky and Defender. To fit my Easy Lifter the spare wheel, rear door mount, inside door panel, rear wiper motor all removed.
Easy Lifter doesn't fit a Land-Rover / Dixon Hate tow ball hitch. :blast
Too late to swap tow ball hitches with wife's Freelander so I'll be riding up, not ideal but I want to join the ride.

ETA: 9.30am hopefully!!

I'm passing through Petersfield so will fill up there but will need to fill up my Husky 2 gallon tank again.

Excellent day out Dave, probably a combination of the most technical lanes in this area so not an easy intro for RD! You did well Rich, practice makes perfect apparently so see u on the next one;-)

Lubo, anytime u fancy these lanes let me know & you can have yr own guide;-)

Lots of pics taken so hope to see em soon.

Hopefully a good day was had by all. Richard I am guessing you may be aching a little today; it was a valiant effort you made. As Dave said the lanes were all quite technical and a tough intro for your first every green laning day. Stick with it and it will get easier! *I have various bits of film from the day which I will post on YouTube and I will send the link once I have done it.

David

Thanks for the day, thoroughly enjoyed it but I was a little knackered towards the end (must have been picking up that bike of Richards:augie)
Looking forward to seeing the images and hopefully to doing it again

Hi Dave,

Yes, my first ride on my Husky, first ride on byways / off tarmac and first ride with Tech 3 boots (useful for walking on the seabed) - Not a good combination to experience all at the same time.

Indeed, those byways are very technically and physically challenging particularly for a newbie. :blast

I'm not going to give up, in fact I'm looking forward to my next ride down the green roads, hopefully different byways and less demanding to ride, well until I become more experienced. :toungincheek

Hi David,

Richard I am guessing you may be aching a little today

David

Understatement of the year!

When I eventually arrived home, I asked my wife to take a few pictures of me before I collapse, she took a few snaps as requested and said "You aren't going in the house like that", so I asked the wife help me out of my kit in our back garden before allowing me to enter our conservatory.
This she did happily because she didn't want any mud in the house.

I staggered inside and although I desperately needed a shower, I sat on our bed, laid back and promptly fell asleep awaking a couple of hours later feeling awful. :sleep
Looking out of the bedroom window I was sad to see that any local opportunist bike thieves didn't TWOC my yellow & blue instrument of torture so I'd better jet wash and garage it before sunset.

The next morning (Monday / D-Day +1) I woke feeling terrible, with aches in places which hadn't ached for more than a decade.
I went to work and struggled and hobbled around.

Tuesday morning (D-Day +2) was the worse day. I woke feeling so stiff (not in that part of my anatomy :augie ) and in pain that I seriously considered a day off sick but I knew we were short staffed so suffered the consequences.

Negotiating (up and down) stairs at work and standing and sitting were extremely difficult and done in a arthritic geriatric fashion much to the amusement of my colleagues (careless bastids). :tears
Just wait until they feel like they've been kicked to feck by a football team wearing steel toe capped boots. :green gri

At one point, I was so in pain and aching all over, with legs of lead and inept at negotiating stairs that I considered asking my CEO for her authorisation to have Stannah Stair Lifts fit a lift asap. :rob

Yes, those byways are very technically and physically demanding.

LOL :D It cannot get any more demanding and difficult can it? :eek

Yes, I'm sure your video of the day will be a huge YouTube success much to my detriment. :(
I'm just glad you wasn't filming behind me when we rode down the first lane - I lasted about 10 metres before falling in to a deep puddle (knee high) and deep mud.
That first lane wasn't a byway, it was a WW1 trench!

Yes, thank you for your help. :blush

Rich. :D

Thank you..................

Dave, Dave and Jeff for your help and patience. :beerjug:

I know I held you all up and interrupted the flow of the ride and wasn't much help when lifting all the bikes over the fallen tree as I was a physical wreck well before we arrived at that point.

Thank all three of you for your help, support, patience and understanding the limitations of an unfit, unskilled novice trail rider.

Most of all many thanks to Jeff for helping me lift my bike after several horizontal moments and on at least one occasion lift my bike off me while I was trapped between my bike and the steep bank. I see why this sport, activity, hobby is best done in a group. :thumb2

I felt guilty and bad every time you came to my aid because you had to stop your XR 400 and kick start it again. :blush

Despite all of my off the bike moments, aches and pains and some minor damage to my bike (broken bracket on left Barl Buster / Hand Guard - Novice mistake of tightening too much and right plastic hand guard coming off) I really enjoyed my day riding with you all.

All of your trail (off road) skills and fitness levels are far higher than mine, I have a lot of catching up to do. :bow

Thank you all again for a great day. :thumb2:thumb2:thumb2

I look forward to riding with you all again sometime soon.

Regards,

Rich. :beerjug:
