Hand guard extensions ...

... are they available for the standard F650/800 OEM handguards ? Jaq has asked for better hand protection as the OEM ones are just a little slim, is there a better route than swapping the whole thing(s) for touratwat ones ?

touratech used to do just the extensions to fit the standard BMW ones but now they do not

I think the whole unit sits low (ok for lever protection) its strong enough but needs more height for my paws ............................

Yeah I've GS1200 handguards fitted on my F650, no probs
Not as good lever protection, but much better wind protection

BMW hand protectors - the metal bars - have options for either small or large hand protectors and the large hand protectors can also have spoiler attachments fitted. I find the large hand protectors sufficient but if you have them and they are not for you then the extra spoiler may help - I have no idea of the prices though.

Be careful if you have an aftermarket screen though, I have a Skidmarx screen and my guards foul the sides and have already broken one after a small tumble

I have the extensions, bought them from local BMW Dealer, to be honest for weather protection they are fair to crap

1200 guards fit and are better weather protection IMHO

Hi Ross, im not too sure as I have the 800 ones fitted then put the extension on. I think without having one to look at to hand we might have to wait until a 1200 owner looks in on the thread, sorry.

No, the 1200 guards don't have the steel bar. They're bigger, and give better weather protection than the 800 guards, but the 800's are tougher against bushes etc.
