Hi All
I need a bit of advice plse! I've ordered a G650GS and hopefully should be with me for end of June - so not long now:bounce1 - I'd really like a set of hand guards I'm not keen on the ones that join at the bar ends as I have an irrational fear of getting my hands stuck should I come a cropper but I liked my OHs ones on his old F650 Funduro (a bit like ears) I've seen a Renthall set and and they fit a 7/8 or bigger handle bar but does that fit my bars. any help would be appreciated or any helpful suggestions.
Thanks Dizzxxx

My mate has a set of Barkbusters on his and they seem bullet proof! Looking to put some on my Dakar when I have some spare funds! They are a bit expensive (£80 ish) but would definatley fend off bushes, small branches etc if you fancied some off road action.

I think Touratech do a set also that seem to get some good reviews. I'm sure the old and bold on here will steer you in the right direction. Might be worth popping a thread in the wanted section as someone might have a set taking up room in their garage :thumb

P.s ... just re-read your thread, both the sets I mentioned still join at the bar ends. Not sure any alternative would give you any protection. If it's just windstoppers you want then maybe a pair of muffs would be better ?

I've just (today) fitted a set of the BM hand guards to my G650GS. Have to say, I'm really pleased. There seems to be plenty of room 'inside' them - you'd certainly have to go some to get your hand stuck, put it that way! I've got a set of 'open ended' ones on my Husqvarna enduro, and they don't really feel any different (if that makes sense?....) - what I mean is, I don't feel any less/more secure with either design. Had to wait a few weeks for mine to arrive though, they were on back order, but supply is OK now, I was told.

HTH :)

What model/year handguards did you fit to your G650GS?

I bought the BMW ones from my local dealer, specific to the G650GS.....I assume they're the same as the F650 ones from most years, as I'm about to buy the Touratech spoliers to fit to the top of them, which fit (apparantly) all F650GS's & G650GS's original guards.

Only thing I've found (hence the spoilers) is that either part of my fingers, of the backs of my hands catch a bit of breeze/rain, depending on the angle of the fitting. Not a problem now, but come the winter, i might notice, so just getting ready for it now!

From memory, the guards were about £93 all in.......I think :)

We've fitted the BMW hand guards to our G, really happy with them. Just over £60 I think they were :beerjug:
