The OEM guards are pretty shabby now. I'm considering refurbishing them or fitting non OEM replacements.

Suggestions please for both options?

I have put the Barkbuster Storms on my R1200RS using the single mounting point that replaces the bar ends. These allow me to fit the Tucano R319 bar muffs that need handguards.

FWIW I bought some Alpine White spray in a can. I paint-stripped my shabby handguards and washed them down. Plastic primer then a few top coats of the white, with some lacquer on that, and they came up like new. I was really surprised!

I’ve got a pair of black ones if you want them Pete.

Not sure they will be better than the ones you have, but I can take some photos and send them to you if you want.
They are only gathering dust in the garage.

Something to note - guards that fit into the end of the bars, like Acerbis, with a bolt that expands out when tightened, can distort the shape if the bars if over tightened. I did that, and found that the twist grip was sticking. I had to get new bars.
