Handlebar reach? Seat height?

Love the idea of a GS but can anyone tell me what the reach is like to the handlebars for someone of a vertically challenged nature?
I'm 5'6" and found on some of the bikes I've had my arms were almost fully extended for the normal riding position. It's not that much of a problem on short distances but on 5 - 6 hour journeys when touring the vibration through the bars leaves me with pins and needles in one of my hands.

The other question is - for someone with a 29" inside leg, can I expect to have both feet flat on the floor (or almost) on a 1200GS with a lowered seat?

Thanks

Rob

Your leg length is fine and you can obtain handlebar risers that bring the handlebars closer to you.

Confirmed... you'll have no problem with a standard 1200, even better with a low seat :thumb

(I'm 29" inside leg.. the standard 1200 seat is fine, the lowered seat is finer :))

If you are buying new you can get an ex-factory lowered bike with low seat saw one at local Northampton dealership last week.

Thanks

Thanks for the replies (quick ones too).

I wouldn't be looking to buy new, probably 2004 - 2006
A mate recently bought one and I had a quick sit on it. Normal seat height had me on my tiptoes which is no different to other bikes I own as the rear suspension has a bit more give in it than my Fireblade.
Hard to gauge the reach to the bars as that's something that takes a few miles to work out though knowing that there are risers out there does mean there are options.

Cheers

Rob

You shouldn't have any problem, I am about 5'7" ish and the standard GS seat on my bike has two settings, check the two bars under the seat on the low setting my feet are flat on the ground almost and on high setting on the ball of both feet.

Also I find it the comfiest bike I have ever had, you can go for miles without feeling any stress, and my past bikes have been SV1000s and ZX6r's

Phone a dealer and get a days test ride preferably not on one of the ones with the fancy suspension setting thingies (electron thing)

Pins & needles

I get pins and needles in the arms from time to time on long runs - decided in the end that it was to do with the cut of my jacket rather than anything to do with the bike, so I have learnt how to wiggle my shoulders to make it stop.

Could be worth a try?

My advice is to try one and if you give it a fair run I think you will manage JJH 1200gsa standard 5ft 11inch no prob seat on low setting previousley 1200gs seat on high setting also 1200rt on high and fjr on high setting
