Handlebar replacement ( serious !! )

The bars on my 1100GS are slightly bent....Gas Boy has a set from a R100GS that will fit ( needs a hole drilling in the base for eleckie grips etc )....the question is, the OE bars have dampening linkage next to the grips...is the vibration that bad that this is needed or can I just fit the 'non damped' (so to speak ) handlebars off the earlier airhead and all will be well with the world again.
Advice from those who have fitted standard non damped bars would be appreciated re the difference in vibration etc.





PS Do I need to drain the master cylinder?

I've recently fitted a set of alloy TT bars to my 1150 without any increased vibration,but i keep my TBs balanced and smooth.
Even an antique 1100 is going to be smoother than some prehistoric airhead lump so just get 'em fitted.


PS,feel free to drain any cylinder you want.

Kenny, I have a set of K100/11LT bars fitted to my 11GS. I have a reoccuring lockup in my shoulders....

Dare I say they are better for vibes than my 11 was!! The bars are solid and I fitted the LT bar end weights which are a bit heavier. My theory is you can put a bit too much flexible joint stuff in and make it worse...

but it is an air/oilhead so if the bike doesn't know what it is the handlebars won't either so therefore it doesn't matter
