handlebars on 650gs twin

I have heard that the handlebars on the 650 twins are quite weak and and can bend very easily if the bike goes down. Has anyone changed over their handlebars with stronger ones, i would be interested in doing the same. if i get hurt at least the handlebars will be ok.
