Hi Everyone!!

After 3500 miles....It's time to raise the handlebar!

I'm 6ft 2" tall, the seat is on the highest position, I think a 30 mm raiser will be perfect. (for both riding sitting down and standing up) The horizontal distance between me and the handlebar is perfect, so, the riser should rise the handlebar only in vertical. Touratech offers a 25 mm one and a 40 mm one....

Is anyone using them?? any comments/suggestions?

Thanks!

Juanma.

Wunderlich 40mm rise , I've not checked if it's 20 up and 20 back but it certainly takes the ache away from the top of the shoulders, As proven coming from Edinburgh to Cornwall
Off topic but Bmw dry suit trousers, certainly are not after being caught in yesterday's rain ,,,,, wet arse :flag

Sorry about your wet arse! :P

I got the same problem with my shoulders. I don't want to get the handlebar closer to me, just higher, so I will probabyl go for the 25 mm... in the description, the mention a 35 mm one... but I can't find it in the website, it might be worth to drop an email.

Thanks!

Try tilting the bars forwards. That raises them a bit, and also pushes them away from you creating more space in the cockpit. I have mine rotated quite a long way round; takes some getting used to but worth it.

Thanks for the posts.

I find the angle and the distant between me and the handlebar perfect, I just need to rise it a bit.

Thanks!

At 6' 7" I decided to go for the 40mm Wunderlich Risers more or less from the off. Combined with the little bar movement that there is they made a big difference to me, and even standing up I find it is not such a strain on the lower back.

I'm not sure if Motorradical parts are available in the UK. Try doing a search for a local dealer, p'raps?

I installed 30mm Motorradical risers three days ago - mostly for my very long-distance runs where I sometimes stand in the saddle to stretch out a bit.
I thought they'd give an awkward feeling when riding at high speeds, but my bike's handling is good enogh that it doesn't seem to make a difference.

Out of interest:
Wild @ Heart 30mm risers (South African made): R1 300.
Wunderlich 30mm risers (local importer): R1 000.
Motorradical 30mm risers: R820.

You tell me how a South African made part ends up being more expensive than a German part.

Thanks for the info Nick,

Anyone else got a funny feeling after fitting the risers? Could it be happening coz you are now loading more weight on the rear of the bike?? what if you adjust the ESA to panniers or pillion, in order to get a slightly more aggressive geometry?

Thanks!
Juanma.

Im 6.2 also and went for the 2" up and back rox risers made by roxspeed fx and bought through adventurebikeshop,, they made a big difference,, very comfy they are but expensive. The right side cables need moving the other side of the front right suspension leg as they were abit snug on full left turns. You are only around the corner from me so pm me if you want to meet up and have a looky.

Hi Tone!

Thanks for the offer!! I'm trying to send a private message but... I have no idea how to do it!!! :blast

Wunderlich risers TOP !!!!!!!!

Bought the wunderlich risers 37mm higher and 27mm closer to driver .

TOP TOP TOP !!!!!!!!!

Sort of on subject.....

Ive got the 15mm straight up tt risers as i wanted to take less weight off the wrists. They are ok but im now getting post ride aches behind the base of the thumb/palm on the throttle side.

The bar angle on the gs seems to be more swept back than previous gen bikes, which were flatter.

Is there any way i can get a flatter less swept back handle bar on the GS WC? I keep looking at the adventure pics and the bars seem a smidge wider with less swept angle at the ends.:nenau

The risers that move the bars both higher and closer to the rider would place more angle on the position of the hands so i am thinking would not be a good mod for a taller rider.

Might end up taking the bar risers off mine!

You have a riding technique problem. You shouldn't be leaning on the bars and risers are not the fix !!

Rider training is the answer. Try California Superbike.

Hmmm. I presume you have the mobility to execute an emergency stop (using front brake) ???

Correct, although grabbing a brake lever is using muscles/tendons differently to holding the bars or using a twist grip, and im making sure im holding the bars quite loosely.

Most bikes considered comfy are out for me these days and cause me quite a lot of discomfort in the rh wrist for a few days AFTER riding. Ive had mri scans on it that confirm its ever so slightly foo barred before i even get on a bike.

transalp no good (bars narrow and angled) , multistrada no good (bars narrow but not as bad as transalp) , gsa1200 twin cam 100 percent fine no post ride problems as was the 1150 gsa, hence wanting higher, straighter bars.

Handlebars further back?

Slightly different issue for me: I've got the lowered GS at only 5 foot 2 it's a big bike (but loving it) on motorway rides, the back of my shoulders are aching & whilst focusing on relaxing etc helps to some extent I carnt help thinking that with the handlebars further back towards me, it may be more comfortable.

Any one know of handlebar 'risers' which bring the handlebars back ie not just a 20 up & 20 back?
Anyone tried them?
Anyone else with similar dwarf like characteristics wishing to 'customise' the reach?

Assistance & abuse welcome!
