After my training session the other day a recommendation was to raise and also change my handlebars (am 6'4" with a long back) so i've ordered some rox risers (2") and i've got the renthal twinwall ktm high bend bars (wider and less sweep to suit the broad shoulders) to go on. One question for those that know ...... the bmw bars are pin hold to lock the starter button/kill switch in place where as the renthal bars say not to modify or even centre punch them ..... what have others done ? drilled the bars or removed the pin (if thats possible ?)

cheers
Ian

2 Rossi's in the Plymouth area - spooky.

You might be able to pull the pin out with a pair of pliers. If not, apply some gentle heat - a soldering iron worked for me - and it will just drop out.

that is spooky,

you got a xchallenge?

mine is the xmoto, although maybe changing it soon if george white will do me a deal

When i changed the standard bars to renthals, i just drilled the bars so the pins could do their job.

No problems, even after crashes :augie

only to stop the controls rotating in particular the cut off. i took the pins out though :augie

Yep, you'll know it if you see it, de-stickered, small screen (but I have made lots of those now), big bashplate with drinks bottle and mess tin bolted to the front to store tools and tube. You'll probably hear me coming first though :augie

What are you thinking of replacing it with? If it is too slow for you, try dropping a tooth off the front cog and putting on a free breathing silencer first. :bounce1 You can always take mine out for a blat to compare.

not going to change now. going to keep the xmoto for a while longer.

i think i have seen your xchallenge around, at charles cross roundabout and and coming up past the spice well indian restaruant.

my xmoto is quick enough, i did have it in full supermoto trim with a high fender but have just put it back to standard apart from KTM Hand Guards and a scorpion exhaust and K&N air filter.

may try the one tooth down on the front though. what does that do to the top speed though?

That will be me you have seen.

Gearing on the moto may be different to the challenge but going from 15/47 to 14/47 with the 18" rear wheel on the challenge improved acceleration and fuel economy without reducing top speed as it allowed the bike to rev out. I think the country has 16/47 with the 17" rear wheel, not sure about the moto.

Handlebar and riser pics

My RoX risers finally arrived so some pics : ROX Risers, Renthal twinwall 994 bars, ProGrip rally grips with Winding Roads heaters underneath, cycra probend handguards with the uclamps. also aquabox for gps. no major problems fitting though the clutch cable is the tightest cable hence the uclamp upside down on that side.
