... well for a couple of weeks anyway.

Just had keyhole surgery (again!) on my knee following issues from an army obstacle course I did 3 years ago.
However, it transpires I now have arthritus in it and they will be discussing options like a replacement knee but this is the NHS so who knows.

I thought you were walking funny... Not this :ymca then?

Your best bet is get into the 18 weeks timeline of diagnosis to treatment schedule AQADP. :thumb BTW, It takes 18 weeks or so.

Brings back memories of when I went in for keyhole surgery on my left knee in December 2002 and I was told the same as you Joe. Osteo arthritis which will eventually lead to a knee replacement. Nine years on (almost) and it is still ok ish and hopefully some years away from the knee replacment.

Good luck with it.

Well take it easy and heal well....

BTW, you ald fella's aren't getting any younger, so you need to take better care of your selves.....:blast

Same here Bob - now 11yrs down the 'you will need a new knee and they only last 10yrs then you'll get another and that's it" road.

I find a daily dose of Chondroitin Glucosomine and Cod Liver Oil. Cut out any impact/twisting movements to prolong the life of joint (doggie style still OK though :toungincheek).

Doc prescribes me Co-dyrdromol - take as and when needed and find them to be great.

Jim,

I take the glucosomine but hadn't thought about the cod liver oil. I'm not on any prescribed painkillers yet, I just cut out a lot of activities which involve twisting and impact and I am trying to make it last as long as possible.

Good for all the joints Bob :spl1f:

Makes me shit through the eye of a needle!

Do some reasearch as there are a few types of joint some are better than others and your local NHS trust will just fit the cheapest:rolleyes:

You should be able to argue for a better joint if you know your stuff:type

Either way get well soon!

Had my post op checkup today so decided to go to the hospital on my bike. First time in 2 weeks - it's been a long time without having my leg over something :augie

Knee slightly tender and got abouy 80% use - not too happy bending it too far yet.
Doc says that on a scale up to 4 (4 being bad) my knee is a 2 on the wear and tear scale. However, since I had a previous op 2 years ago then I may be a 3 soon seeing as so much wear and tear has taken place since then. This is the point when knee replacement would be discussed. One of these things that nobody can tell which I understand.

Well, at least I'm back on the bike and can work on somemore bike run routes :clap

Good to know you out and about.......

Take it nice and steady until your knee is back to "3":thumb2
