Well must say the plastic BMW plastic bike came in handy last night, popped out for a quick shandy to meet up with the local starbucks crew, 2 of which have lovely shiny vintage Harley,s it has to be nice when they come out, July and August, so sitting nicely in a Biergarten, and suddenly the wind got up, we where thinking rain, well holy hell we got hit by the mother of Hailstones, on average size a pingpong ball, some as big as tennis balls, lasted about 5 minutes, heavy to moderate hailstones falling, and then transforming into a light rain, obviously everyone was saying wow, look at that, until the Harley lads seen their tanks, that looked like somebody had just gone over the tank with a ball hammer, the plastic bikes where fine, I see many euro,s flying out the window in repairs on the tanks, and this morning the local news, shows roofs full of holes windows smashe, I cannot imagine the camping cars in Badenweiler camp site, must be tough on them, so mother nature strikes again.:eek:

Looks like you’re running low on full stops again! ;)

As you’re a repeat customer, I’ll do you a decent discount. :thumb

Hail stones are a bastard

I was up on Sky a few years ago riding along when I got caught in hail

Not quite as big as ping pong balls but bigger than peas

They hurt like hell even through the Klim jacket

Well I actually thought hailstones like what came down, only happened on TV in strange places in the USA, glad we had already stopped for a shandy, got quite lucky, might have been a different outcome on the road.

Italy has suffered a lot with tennis ball sized hail over the recent years. Some big damage to cars, property and crops.

Last year on my way down to Italy I got hit with golf ball sized hail in the south Ardennes. I was sure something was going to break! But all that plastic survived just fine! Oh, and it bloody hurt!!
