Hard drive camcorders

Are they any good?. Is the image quality any good compared to minidv etc. Any downfalls ?, cheers

Brought a Sony last week, first impressions very good going to the lakes for a week today ill test it there .

I was told by a guy from the local Sony shop that they are not so good for use on a motorcycle as the hard drive has moving parts and this could jump with the vidration through the bike.

Nearly all pros who use camcorders on bikes use tapes, as the pinch rollers keep the tape taught.

I was told that they are good other than that.

You can always change a tape but when the drive is full thats it.
I looked at them for the bike last year and decided to go for a tape especiall for long tours.
