just did a 115 mile ride to the hardknott pass again only to find when I got to the bottom the road was closed,anyone know why is it permanent or what cant imagine they're doing the road itself

Hope it is being resurfaced! I cycled up it on the Fred Whitton Challenge last year and it was blooming scary on the descent on the other side (going to Wrynose) with big holes, gravel and rippled Tarmac all over the place!

When I went up a couple of weeks ago there was a lot of damage in a few places, the winter seems to have really battered it. Its the worst I have seen it for years,

Hard knot was on our route for yesterday but the weather was that bad at Kendal we didn't bother good job we didn't;-)
