harman kardon speakers suddenly buzzing /humming

just started never played loud

if usb removed still a low volume noise from the sticks and woofer gets louder when usb plugged in
if disconnect the sticks still audible from woofer but much quieter


purchased 2nd hand off here a few months ago granted but the sudden appearance of this is baffling

ideas anyone? or are they for the bin

Check that all the other plugs in the back of the machine are in properly.....and pull and clean all plugs associated with the speakers.....if there's a small short between two poles of a speaker plug (just a bit of fluffing up can do it) then it will do the buzzing thing

if noise present with usb removed, it's unlikely to be contact problems, check for proximity of any of the speaker wires (including its power lead) to other power cables.

Sounds like a mains induced humm...

Could it be some sort of Earth Loop? Any new connections made recently, new equipment, etc?

mains induced hum by the sounds ( no pun!!) of it.
starting running via an extension lead? recent equipment plugged into the same circuit?
try them powered from elsewhere
