Hello all,

After the third attempted theft of my R1200GSA from my home, I bought an X3 (it took 2 weeks to come). I have read how fantastic they are...great, but has anyone actually had theirs cut through and bike stolen?...how long did it take, how many discs..is it as tough as they say or not? I have seen videos of people demonstrating how hard it is..again great, but was wondering if anyone has actually had theirs cut through and bike stolen? I may now have gone a bit overboard, but now have 8 bits of lockable security on her, tracker and ground anchor.. better safe than sorry!

Their last attempt I disturbed them and was threatened with a running angle grinder.. fun times!

Without stating the obvious, no lock will prevent a bike being lifted into a van, so hopefully it’s chained to something solid. I have an X3 and think it is as good as you’ll get, especially when the scum have cordless angle grinders rather than mains powered ones.

Can I ask where you live/how it’s stored eg inner city street, bike left outdoors in full view or quiet cul-de-sac/mews and garaged etc etc ??

I guess the thieves will keep coming back for it now they’ve had a go, unless they realise how serious you are about security.

Start with shotgun mines.
Then a fogger activated by the mines being tripped.
Add in a really nasty siren activated by the fogger.
That should give you plenty of time to accidentally trip over whilst holding the bat you use for the dogs ball as you’ve just walked it…….

Keep a powder fire extinguisher close to hand. If it happens again give them a face full of powder it blinds and disorients
And a CO2 extinguisher will give them burns, either option is good. We used to carry a CO2 extinguisher when we were breaching peoples homes to execute Warrants etc and if anyone offered violence they’d get a face full of CO2. It never failed! 👍

Hey, it was on my drive set back from the road..Greater London area. The police say I am now on some black list of motorbike locations!

They are welcome to come back...now I have redirected my 240V through the chain.....:sneaky:

What a load of tosh Kimbers or in correct English I'll say rubbish.
"now I have redirected my 240V through the chain....." yeah right....that, young man, is called in Law a Man Trap which, of course, is illegal.

Your use of anything as a weapon which the trespasser/thief/aggressor etc. does not have can be interpreted by the Law as the use of 'unreasonable force'.
No matter how desirable it may be to inflict retribution on those thieving **** and all the bravado comments on here, you might want to consider the legal consequences on you of any action you might take even if using a wet towel.
No doubt they'll have a mother standing by saying what a lovely sweet boy he is who would not say 'boo' to a fly

A friend of ours is a good criminal KS. You can have his number. As Treb said, you may be in a sea of shit with that 240v trap. Trip wire/pressure plate with a banger, first line. https://williampowell.com/products/poacher-alarm-ma101
Or...Something like this linked to a alarm? If you have the space https://www.armadilloboxes.com/

Some years ago I had fitted shark teeth (SA invention) along the wall after the we were hit with a theft of lead from the roof. The village suffered including the church.
Local PC investigated the solution and he was ok with it. However the solution had to be at a certain height and warning signs fitted. As a good measure heavy grease was added to the drain pipe.

Have you got any friends close by who will keep it in a garage, or at the very least out of sight.
even if for a short time while the scroats get the message its gone.

Yes, but not long term. Maybe an answer to get it out of sight and off any "theft list"..

I would, just explain to your mate the thieves keep returning.
Once they come for it a few times and its not there, hopefully they will move onto someone else.

I had to do the same many years back when my Fireblade was targeted, I couldn't sleep, I spent night after night at the landing window (bike was parked at side of house under the window)
It was this that prompted me to have a brick garage built with NO windows.
Fingers crossed I've been ok ever since.

I realise a garage isn't possible for most people, I will be honest without my garage I think I would have given up on bikes in favour of a decent nights sleep!

Give them enough time and they will take everything. Each bit of security added to the bikes is only as good for "x" amount of time.

I agree with the others you'd be better with finding an alternative location to store the bike.
I'm sorry.
It's a fairly shit situation.

Works well on aggressive dogs to!
