....and not changed back again ??

Have been browsing the threads and it seems that the Remus setup edges the stubby setup.

I currently have a Remus Revolution, Y piece and bbpower chip fitted to the GS.

Like the power but the noise can get on yer nerves after a while....

Would fitting the cat/y piece make a significant difference to the power delivery ??

Anyone tried both & if so which do you prefer ??

keep the Remus :bow:bow
and get an i pod or earplugs "simples" :D:D
i love the sound and the extra bit of oomph!!!!!!! :thumb

I used to have a Remus Revolution and Y piece.. was nice for awhile, but on a long run I got fed up with the noise, plus it was a little embarrassing pootling around the villages, and made me feel a bit 'obvious'.

So I put the original silencer back on with the Y piece which if anything made the bike seem faster..!!?? probably 'cos it didn't sound like it was working hard.

Then.. I switched.. put the cat back on so I could fit a stubby, just so I could get a full size pannier on the left, the performance appears the same, as does the fuel consumption.. sounds quite nice, but nowhere as loud as the Revolution can.

.

The choice of those that know noise doesn't mean faster ;)

Have tried the original silencer with the Y piece...initially seemed better on local runs,,much quieter, even went to the South of France this year with it on. Then I came back & put the remus back on....top end is much better...
This is my dilemma...dont want to faff about putting the cat and the stubby on if it's going to seriously affect performance...

Y piece and remus to cat plus stubby here....not for any performance gains 'cos that's all bullshit anyway (it'sa ferking tractor guys, not a track bike....who do you think you're kidding!!! :blast) or for any noise reduction issues 'cos that's for old men and the Swiss to worry about........
I smashed two end cans off road, so it was the only choice for me.....

Is there any difference in performance? is there ferk.:blast

Is there any difference in noise? Sadly yes, but you can easily fix that but pulling some of the guts out of the cat. :thumb2

It's lighter and neater too, and you don't have to worry about your latest Anne Summers parcel in the panniers.

Remus?

Consigned to the wannabee bin :D

:dabone

My 1150 came with a Remus and Y piece and I was chuffed to bits, nearly 3000 miles later It's coming off. I'm may be an old fart but I'm just too embarassed to open it up when I think people may hear me:rolleyes:
I think I'm going to a cat and stubby for the pannier arrangment:thumb2

No, were not talking lap times...just driveability :pullface

anyway, consensus seems to be it makes little or no difference so will give it a go....

Thanks guys :thumb2

As a producer of stubby's for the 1150 ( sadly not any more)

I dyno'ed my 1150 with the stubby fitted.. made no difference whatsoever to the fuelling/torque/BHP

It was spot on with manufacturers figures :thumb

Cheers matey.... just done the deed... not sure which map to use on the bbpower tho. Will try stage 2 as I have K&N fitted as well.

Having a blast up to Scotland for the day tmoz so chance to give it a try.

Definitely sounds better ...and it looks like wheel changes & servicing will be easier as well. :thumb2

I've got the cat and a halfords swept tail piece, sounds fine and leaves lots of room for my panniers:drool

HOW DO YOU GO ABOUT "RIPPING THE GUTS" OUT OF THE CAT AND IS IT WORTH IT?

Scotland and back yesterday....jury's out

The day trip to Scotland turned into a bit of an epic....637 miles & 14 hours in total.

Don't think the top end roll on is as good with the stubby on... doesn't seem to spin up as freely or pull very hard over the indicated magic figure.

Everywhere else seems OK

BUT

Fuel consumption definitely improved...ended up using stage 3 map and still got overall of 48 mpg ragging the tits off it down the M74.

Going to pull a plug to see what mixture looks like as tail pipe is not in the least sooty.

Will persevere a while longer

Hi all
Just got back from a weekend in the uk covering about 600 miles or so. So I thought I would do a test with the exhaust set up. Firstly I bought the bike with a y piece and a remus with baffles in. Bike ran flat but coming from a sports bike I thought this was normal. Then tried the cat with the remus with baffles out this was a better set up and I like the way the bike revved cleanly both these options were without a cat code plug as the bike didnt come with one. This weekend I ran the Y piece with race can and the steptoe modification but the bike used more fuel and ran quite rough but as steptoe said you dont know if you dont try it. So have just come in from swapping it back to cat and remus and i had already removed the link. If this is any help to you.

Anyone have piccies with the subby exhaust one? I'm quite keen to be able to use full size panniers on both sides and a couple of kilo's in weight saving is always handy.

Cheers

Matt
