If so how dod you explain it and what was the cost differential ?

I looked at buying a mapped one and surety said yeah fine its not on the list of stuff we cant cover, however experience tells me come renewal time they give a riduculous quote and will only match like for like.. and its hard to find others who are so laxed to match with.

Ps i loose sleep over lies such as the tooth fairy and the 40 year old goldfish i kept replacing so i will have to declare it

The honesty comes from the " im not in the pub" fib ive been caught out with for the last 20 attempts

If I tune the carbs in my airhead have I had it remapped?

So you had an independent engineer check your fuel injection was balanced and not running to lean, do you tell your insurers about all your servicing?

So thats a no then, i get your point however im on the autustic spectrum

I know of three Hilltopped GS's that were sold on without that 'modification' being advised to the new owner.
Not relevant to the OP's original point, but something that might cause sleepless nights for other equally anal worryguts.

Its all fair comment, i do not disagree one bit... and i dont even take it as a slight on myself
But the question remains

Some are born to worry, were all wired differantly, and if i honestly didnt know it wouldnt be an issue.

It would be a clever insurance engineer that could find it bearing in mind that the original program is still in there

If your motorcycle isn't as you described when asked questions by the insurer then I guess you are in breach of contract.

No as Its not modified

It has all the original components as fitted when it left the factory Plus any additional bling that the owner fits and wishes to declare to the insurance company

Its not specifically a power tune it is a Mixture correction adaption allowing the engine to run correctly which increases driveability

The nearest you could declare is your bike has been re-chipped but then you are not telling the truth either Are you??? :green gri :green gri :green gri

It must be so horrible to be as Anal as that!!!

Declare all modifications to the bike that you have added removed and refitted but the only thing has been done in a Hilltop is a software update

It is horrible believe me it is.
Software update i like that

I declared my power commander to my insurance company and told them it was just to correct the fueling.
After a few moments the guy came back and said that the girl in the office had never heard of anyone using a power commander unless it was to make it faster. You can't argue with feminine logic. :blagblah
I changed my insurance company.

i heard that insurance companies had infiltraded the ukgser site and were making there way round everyone with a r1200gs and plugging it in to see if was remapped :augie
be afraid very afraid :aidan

BMW say the bike makes 105 bhp (or thereabouts) so the insurers will have based their premiums on a bike that actually makes 105bhp.

My bike has not been Hilltopped so t's likely to be making about 85bhp. Please can I have a 20% reduction on my insurance premiums.

the insurers probably know that the quoted power figures are not at the rear wheel.

"is the vehicle to the original manufacturers specification?" & "has the vehicle been modified in any way?" seems to be what insurers ask these days.

It's my understanding that Hilltop dyno graphs are corrected to show crank output. Though I may well be wrong.
