Has anyone figured out how to separate the headlight assembly?

Before I fcuk it up and attack it with a lump hammer - I need to know if the lens can be removed...

I know Jon had a look a while ago (see burning reflector thread..) but has it been done yet?

I had a go (similar reflector problem with 50W HIDs) but couldn't work out how to get it apart. Got a couple of screws out but that was it.

Looks like I'll have to dig out the slit saw then ...

I tried to take the front surround of that is held in place with a screw, top and bottom and some clips on the sides. But as you have probably found something in the middle is still retaining it. So I then moved around to the rear to investigate but with no joy. I don't have a spare yet so didn't want to trash it just yet. It would be handy if I could completely remove the assembly from the bike and take it inside to investigate further.

I can take my headlight assembly off my F800GS in about 5 minutes. In fact it's the easiest bike to work on I've had in quite some time.

edit: two bolts and a plug, and Bob's your uncle...
