has anyone here got or ridden a new style XT660Z tenere?

Timpo uses one for his 600 plus runs.

You could do worse than to look on www.xt660.com

There have been one or two from this place that pop up there, including Timpo and Stumpy.

No but it looks like I've got 7 available for Moto Morocco trips....just in negotiation at the moment so it could be an interesting year :D

Will let you know what they're like :thumb2

Yes Y2, I have one, as does Garry H.
I'm not sure where you have heard of the FI problems because this is not true.
The FI is absolutely blob-on with my bike. I have only lowered the FD gearing by one tooth on the front.
The other mod was to fit some Acerbis Multiplo handguards. Future mods will be a single exhaust silencer and a flat seat. The standard seat has a hump for the pillion that get right in the way when riding on trickier trails where weight shifting is required.
A great bike for sub-£5k.
Good looks, 22ltr fuel cell, and excelllent brakes, what else do you need......

Timpo.

You surprise me a little actually Chris.....

Seems to me that from a DRZ400 there are two directions to go......either the higher performance, more focussed direction that would lead you towards a Husaberg/EXC/CRF type solution, or the one that you seem interested in, the softer, dual sport orientated comfy capable longer distance capable direction of the Tenere which would, ultimately, lead you to.......

A GS :augie:D

Read it again, and especially the highlighted part of the paragraph:-
The Yamaha XT660Z Tenere’s engine is used in a number of other machines (including the Aprilia Pagaso, MT-03, Derbi Mulhacen as well as the XT660 X and R models) complaints of a jerky throttle, stalling and mid rev hunting have been fixed on the Tenere. The engine accelerates cleanly from a closed throttle and pulls well (for a single) up to 70mph. Intrusive Vibes begin at 5000rpm.

why does that surprise you?

since all but one of my green lanes are now restricted byways i dont need a "light" off road bike..i do love the off road styling and riding postion for my commute to work....20mins of tight twisty country lanes....the DRZ is good fun but the tank range is 1 day short of doing a whole week even at 55+mpg

i bought my DRZ400 for mainly green laning use but now i mostly use it for commuting, unless its lashing it down or icy then i use the car so i may as well look at other bikes with the styling i like

the only thing that stops me taking a serious look at the BMW bikes is the one thing you all seem to accept and ignore :augie
