Hi
I was going to order a tinted visor for the Tour-X5, when I saw them available at Ali-Express for about a third of the price.

Has anyone ordered a visor from there, and what was the product like?
Mate of mine bought a clear one for a Shoei GT Air. Seems good quality, same thickness as the OEM, fits perfectly. BUT - not sure how it would cope with a flying stone. Plan is to buy another one (they are cheap enough) and fire some stones from a catapult at it. Will post the results on here.

In the meantime I will stick with the OEM visor.

your comments mirror my initial thoughts. The last thing I want is to return to the days of Bob Heath visors.

Did the visor actually have any BS kitemark on? I’m sure a black visor won’t be needed till next summer.

I await results with interest - doubtless Shoei get their visors manufactured somewhere low cost.

Just no one get tempted by the crazy AE helmet prices, unless for display purposes.

I’m guessing that you wouldn’t buy a cheap knock off Ali-Express Arai copy??
Why risk it on the visor?

It wouldn’t be for me, but hey, each to their own I guess.

Where safety gear is concerned, Ali Express and "certified to the latest standards" don't seem to be mutually interchangeable terms!
If you have to ask whether you'd chance it, then you probably have your answer....

27 quid for the Chinese knock off.

An original one is about 55 quid (bought one last year). I'd wager one buys a visor every few year at max?
Potential risk of plastic shards in your eyes: priceless.

The Chinese do use the CE mark. However it doesn’t mean conformitie European in China. It means Chinese export. Same font, same size. Different meaning.
I’ve seen this CE on cheap knockoff chainsaw PPE. It is something I warn my students about when delivering training courses.

As part of the fair and balanced land that we play in at UKGSER, I am going to give a recommend for Bob Heath Visors as I just bought one (dark tint) for my RX-7 and it was a third of the price of a genuine one. Fit is ideal, and works as it should, opening and closing etc, no whistles on the move.
X5 dark tint is similar price to OEM so you pays money, takes your choice.
