I have one on order, won't arrive in Australia until late Oct, early Nov.

I was wondering if anyone had experienced the heavier crank motor and what difference they felt.

Apart from the heavier crankshaft motor, Keyless, factory GSAP and new colours, are there any other differences?

I hope I can get all my SW Motech farkles from my 13 GSW to fit it. I know the engine bars won't fit, I wonder if there is anything else that wont fit?

Hi voz, I am expecting my bike by the end of September, it's interesting re the engine bars as I asked the supplying dealer if the 13 my bars would fit, they said yes as there are 2 figure 8 brackets you don't use and replace with 2 spacers,,
I intend trying this myself as I have some earlier bars,,
I must say I am looking forward to the new GSA engine,

2015 gs is the same engine as the 2014 gsa, i.e heavier flywheel which does make the bike feel a little better.
However gearbox is still awful.

Steve, have you ridden a 2015 GS/GSA?

I've ridden what I was told where a 2015 model gs and a 2015 model gsa.

Both very nice bikes and the gs was much better in town, but the suspension was still very average on both and the gearbox was bloody awful on both of them,in fact I've now ridden 11 different wc bikes, and whilst some gearboxes have been slightly better than others non could be described as good.

But I'm currently in love and could be comparing all others with the object of my love.

One thing I've learnt over the last two years, and it's only taken me 45 years to learn,is that no matter how good something looks on paper and how great others believe it is,when buying a motorcycle buy with your heart and not your head.
No matter how much power or how fast it's makers or owners claim it to be,in the real world there's nothing in it.

The 15 models have only been here for just over a week. I'll report back once I get mine, if there are any noticeable differences.:thumb

I agree with your last paragraph.:beerjug:

I've got a 2013GS and the gearbox is fine, perhaps the early ones were best, either that or I just know how to change gear properly like the vast majority of LC owners around the World :) seems like it's just a few old duffers on here that struggle ;)

Then again you are Peter Perfect.

Mine is a 2014 build and the gearbox graunches badly when giving it the beans. Maybe you ride yours like a pussy. 4th gs and the gearbox on the others was fine. Seems to have got worse. Why are some fcuked and some aren't, anyone ever got a fix to the problem ?

I am a bit confused by this gearbox talk. When I bought my first GS, an 04 model, the gearbox was clunky. Sometimes described as like dropping a spanner into a bag of tools. Nothing like my slick wee Honda.

My 2014 model with the new super duper, whatever it is, is exactly the same.

Does it bother me or put me off the bike?

Not one jot. Do I want to go back to the Honda? Not at all.

So whats the fuss about?

Mines all good was thinking of changing in march but might keep it and extend the warranty.

My gearbox on my 13 is fine too. I agree with the above comment that it is probably rider error of a few heavy footed owners causing the complaints.

Sorry but youre totally wide of the mark. My previous 3 gs's inc a 2011 and 2012 model had no gearbox issues. Ive had circa 25 bikes since 1987 and this has probably the worst change of the lot, the gearchance can graunch and grind badly on an upshift at the top of the rev range.

Clutch fully in and wait for the awful grind and kick back through the pedal. Pre loading the lever seems to help/improve mind.

Being 'gentle' with a change can result in a bruised foot as the pedal virbrates but doesnt want to engage up, feeling like its kicking back.

Ive tried 3 wcs, the clunking doesnt bother me the pthers i owned did that, its graunching/grinding at high revs that im not happy with.

Seems to be getting worse too now the bike is on 6k miles.

Trundle down to the shops and gearchange is fine.

None of my 1200s have had a gearbox problem, 2005, 2010, and now my 2013. The 2005 and 2010 were typical GS dry clutch gearboxes, bit clunky and agricultural, the occasional false neutral but once one had adapted to their quirks all were good enough. My very early 2013 is very different as one would expect from a multi-plate wet clutch - it has some clutch drag and clonks into 1st most of the time (just like many other wet clutch bikes from all manufacturers). If you pussy foot around with the lever it will rattle and vibrate back through the lever because of the clutch drag - no real surprise there. Once you have learnt the rapid shift up and blip down techniques all is sweetness and light :)
