I bought a spare FD, so my then new 05GS12 wouldn't have the last laugh.
I got bored waiting for the running FD to explode so I sold the spare FD to tempt the GS into failure. She refused to fail after 22k miles so I sold her for a new 09GS12. I've only done 7.5k on the new one but I'm hopeful of a FD failure in the very near future.
